The Potting Shed is small but perfectly formed for one or two people to stay in complete compact comfort. An entrance lobby for coats and boots leads into an open plan kitchen, dining and living area and bedroom, plus a walk-in shower room. The Potting Shed is in the garden of Little Hound, overlooking the garden, fields and the veg plot! The village shop is 80m away and stocks everything you might need to knock up a feast in the kitchen. Don't want to cook? There are two good pubs close by.
The Potting Shed is perfect for a short break or longer holiday. Whether you are a keen walker and want to tackle Dartmoor, are more of a stroller along rivers and lanes, or just want a base from which to explore the whole gorgeous county of Devon, the Potting Shed is ideal! It's compact but has everything you need. Well-equipped kitchen, big walk-in shower room and a very comfy bed.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a fridge, hob, convection oven/microwave/grill, cafetiere, all cutlery, crockery and cooking pans and utensils.
The lounge area has a TV with Freeview, an extendable dining table and a selection of books and games.
The bedroom area has a wardrobe and small chests of drawers and a very comfortable double bed.
The walking here is fantastic! You can take a different route every day for a week right from the doorstep. Moorland, rivers, lanes, there's miles and miles to explore. Dogs and Dartmoor tend to go together and your well-behaved dog is welcome to stay with you. Please respect the furniture and decor and keep your dog clean and either in its own bed or use a throw to protect things. My dog, Moss, is friendly to people and other dogs - but it's always best to exercise caution at the first meeting.
If you are planning a walking break, do come prepared! You will need walking boots and waterproof gear. An OS map of the area is also recommended. There is lots of livestock on the moor and dogs MUST be kept under control.
Guests have the whole of The Potting Shed to themselves. The entrance lobby is great for muddy coats and boots and also for drying off dogs, should you have one with you! There is also a small enclosed garden area where you can sit and admire the view and let your dog roam. You are also welcome to explore the rest of the garden to the front of the house, but suggest you keep your dog on a lead.
I am around most of the time and happy to help with suggestions of place to visit or things to do, lend maps or walking books etc. I may also be able to 'dog sit' for you if you want to go off somewhere that isn't dog-friendly, so please ask.
Other things to note...
The Potting Shed is next to a working farm and you will occasionally hear farm-related noises - such as a tractor, cows mooing, dogs barking etc. it's proper country living! The building itself is set well back from the road in a garden, so there is no passing traffic. At night it is usually blissfully quiet, with nothing but a clear, star-studded sky to distract you!
