About this property

5* Gorgeous Stone Cottage in an Idyllic Picture Postcard Village. Parking/Garden

Gorgeous 17th Century Cotswold Stone Cottage, in Blockley (a Picture Postcard Village, in the heart of the North Cotswolds, an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). Historically the Old Coach House to a Manor House, which has been stunningly renovated and restored into what can now only be described as your very own Luxury Escape from the World of hustle and bustle.

The Interior is both Contemporary and Classic, with that real Home from Home English Country Feel to it.

The Cottage has had a complete Interior Makeover, which has been meticulously designed and planned out by the owner (also an Interior Designer) who has owned a couple of other Holiday Properties and is basing the Look and Feel of this little Gem, on many of her own travel experiences and selecting all the best ingredients to make your time at Lanterns as comfortable, relaxed and enjoyable as possible.

The end result is like staying in your very own Private Boutique Hotel -( without the staff or the Restaurant in house ! ) with no other guests accept you and your friends or family to spend your time away with.

Perfectly located right in the heart of the most gorgeous English Countryside (you can't really get much more quintessentially English than this Village, and it is still very much a Lived in Village with just a handful of Holiday Cottages, together with 1 Hotel, a thriving and sought after Pub (within a stones throw from the cottage), a delightful Village Shop and a great little Cafe, offering scurmptions breakfasts / lunches and occassional evening events, if you don't want to cook or travel too far.

Blockley itself is a delight, and used to have 12 Mills back in the day, many of which can still be found, around the Babbling Blockley Brook . (a place to make great memories for Children and Adults alike). There are numerous walks from the gentle near by paths to the fabulous planned routes all across the stunning Cotswold Countryside. (Do bring your Wellingtons / Walking Boots if you can !)

Detached Stone Cottage,
Hand Made / Hand Painted Kitchen with all the main appliances you will need for your stay (Range Oven, Fridge, Freezer, Microwave, Washer/Dryer, Dishwasher, Kettle, Toaster, Nespresso Coffee Machine, Fully equipped with most of the items you would probably need for a Home from Home break away, and most equipment available too for any budding cooks out there).

Private Walled Garden with 2 Patio Areas (one lower and one upper to catch the last rays of the evening sun, with a BBQ on upper level too).

Parking for 2 Cars (if more parking needed there is free on street parking nearby).

Walk to Pub (it's just over the road, couldn't get much more handy), Village centre a short walk away, Childrens Play Park just a stones throw away too, beautiful babbling brooks and surrounding countryside to take your breath away all around you.

Blockley is one of the Cotswolds hidden Secrets, away from the busier Tourist Towns, but close enough to visit them all without being in the car for hours.

Chipping Campden - 3 Miles
Broadway - 5 Miles
Moreton in Marsh - 4 Miles
Stow on the Wold - 6 Miles
Daylesford Organic Farm Shop - 9 Miles
Soho Farmhouse and other places are slightly further afield but not too far away (all within around 1/2 hour to an hours drive) you will find Stratford upon Avon, Cheltenham, Oxford, Cotswold Water Park etc

Minimum 3 Night Stay (however, please do enquire for 2 night rate out of season, as this may be possible if not booked back to back)

Arrival anytime from 4pm, can arrange an earlier check in if not booked immediately before your start date. Please plan to vacate the Cottage by 11am on your day of Departure so that there is enough time to prepare it as you found it for the next Guests staying.

Sorry No Pets (due to the high level of furnishings / standard of property).

Beautiful Cottage and Great Location
Great communication from owner, a lovely cottage in a great location. Beautiful ‘Cotswold’ places to visit, all close by. Do as little or as much as you want. A group of 6 mature ladies had our annual get together and we loved every minute of our stay. Go to the Brockley Cafe, great good and staff, you can BYO for £10 corkage. Thank you Lauren for letting us stay in Lanterns.

Jubilee Cotswolds Break
A beautiful cottage, which is very well equipped. The cottage was very comfortable and clean and the location was perfect for us in the pretty village of Blockley. Beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms are excellent. The garden has a number of seating areas which are useful. We made use of the Great Western Arms (50 yards away) and the village cafe and both were excellent. Owner is very helpful and provided really good information and recommendations and also provided a lovely hamper that was ready for us on arrival. We would certainly like to use this cottage again and would recommend it to others.

About the host

Host profile image
I have travelled & lived in a few different countries around the world, and moved several times within the UK throughout my life. I am an Interior Designer and Property Developer with my husband, James. We have two Children, a dog (who loves the walks in the Cotswolds !), a cat and chickens ! I used to own a Holiday House down by the Coast and I managed it personally for several years. We then sold it as we bought a run down Grade Listed 16th Century Property, which we have been totally renovating for the last 4 years, where we currently live near Stratford upon Avon (so not too far from the Cottage).

Why they chose this property

It has been a dream of mine for many years to own our very own little stone cottage in the Cotswolds, and now that dream has come true. I have always loved what I feel to be the most quintessential area of England that we can offer .. Villages in the Cotswolds are Magical, the countryside is stunning, the walks are endless and it is so easy to get to so many places from this area. A Great Base to Explore. It was easy deciding to buy this beautiful cottage - I had been looking for 2 years and must have viewed around 40 cottages in all areas over the Cotswolds. Blockley is one of the best kept secrets, so is not overly touristy, it is fabulous, has a real community feel to it, so easy to get to other key towns and villages (Chipping Campden and Broadway being a couple of my personal favourites) and the cottag itself was just in the right setting, private but near to everything, and the perfect size - not too big and not too small, both inside and outside.

What makes this property unique

I love the fact that Lanterns is around 300 ish years old, yet it feels both contemporary and traditional all at the same time.
Thick Stone Walls with Window Seats, Loads of Light, Stone Floors, Fireplace, Cosy Rooms with all your home from home comforts. Private Garden areas and a place to really, really unwind - Time to "Just Be".
