Garden Apartment on Luxury Spa Resort, 15 min walk to beach.

Delightful, air conditioned apartment with enclosed garden and terrace. Suitable for summer holiday rental and winter lets. The apartment is spacious, with two bedrooms, one double and one twin with large built-in wardrobes. There are two full bathrooms, one en suite, a large living/ dining room and fully equipped kitchen. The garden has a lawn surrounded by conifers and a palm tree which offers shade when needed. The complex is relaxing and quiet with attractive garden areas, picturesque courtyards and fountains. There are sunbeds and umbrellas and plenty of space for sunbathing around the communal pools which are ideally placed to get the sunshine all day. There is a bar and restaurant overlooking the pool, 2 paddle tennis courts, minigolf, picnic area and a children's playground. The beach, Duquesa golf club and the picturesque marina, surrounded by palm trees,are within walking distance. There is a lovely promenade and many restaurants cafes and shops around the port.

Local Area.

The beach at Castillo and Puerto Duquesa are within easy walking distance of the apartment. Duquesa marina is surrounded by palm trees and is very picturesque.

There are many international restaurants and cafes to choose from. Also there are many bars open all day and into the small hours. The clean sandy, blue flag beaches are excellent with lovely promenades and beach side cafes. There are also several supermarkets, shops and banks in and around the port.


Ideal for Golfing holidays. Within 20 min. walking distance of La Duquesa Golf course. Designed by Robert Trent Jones, this 18-hole, 72 par course is a must for all serious golfers. The course winds round El Hacho beacon hill with magnificent views over the Mediterranean. There are 40 golf courses within easy reach by car so it is a golfer's paradise.


There are 2 nearby airports: Malaga airport which is approx. 1 hour's drive and Gibraltar airport which is about 20 minutes away. A car is essential.

Places to Visit

There are many places in the area well worth a visit. The nearest is Manilva, a charming white village a 10 minute drive away and another further 10 minutes drive inland is Casares, a picture postcard village, nestling in the mountains offering spectacular views of the village and surrounding scenery. Estepona, the nearest big town is a 15 minute drive and Puerto Banus and Marbella are about 30 minutes away. Sotogrande is a 10 minute drive south and Gibraltar 20-25 minutes away.

Why Val James chose Manilva area

We like the Costa del Sol as there are so many interesting places to visit and particularly La Duquesa because of the lovely marina with lively night- life, good choice of restaurants and cafes and the wide sandy beaches.

What makes this apartment unique

We particularly like the development for the landscaped gardens and pool area. Also the picnic area is a lively place to relax and watch your children or grandchildren play.

We also like our spacious apartment and our private garden.

Hi Val, We had a lovely time - weather great, location wonderful, apartment fantastic ! We managed ok without a car but I think in order to appreciate the whole area a car would be best, although in saying that there is a good local bus service which we managed to figure out . We managed a trip to Gibraltar for the day for which was only 12 Euro each way for a family of four ! We also enjoyed the walk to the marina and to Sabanillas which was a lovely place to eat out at - very family friendly and affordable and had a really good Spanish vibe about it- would reccomend the tapas bar on the beach front 6 Euro for a drink and 3 tapas- excellent value. The local supermarket was also very good, very well stocked again at affordable prices (last year we were in spain and the local supermarket was very expensive so it was a very welcome surprise to find this at reasonable prices). The apartment and resort were really lovely good sized pool, very clean and well maintained pool and garden areas , the views around the complex were outstanding . It was very good to have reception facility for asking questions etc. All in all it was a really relaxing break and would definitely consider returning to the area and booking the apartment again. In terms of the deposit I am happy to accept a pay pal transfer if this suits you - (my account is my email above) Once again thank you for letting the apartment we really had a wonderful time. Briliant time had by all

We really found the whole Complex really accommodating. The flat itself was beautiful with French doors opening onto area with tables and chairs and grassy area as well. The accommodation was roomy with large lounge and bedrooms. The complex provided swimming and separate steam, Jacuzzi facilities. All in all everyone had a good time and would definitely recommend it.

Duquesa is a marina situated half way between Marbella and Gibraltar. Set in a beautiful location on the Costa del Sol, this marina is really one of the best in Europe.

Nestled between two clean blue flag beaches complete with beach bars, the port of Duquesa seems a million miles away from the hustle and bustle you would normally expect from the Costa del Sol.

At this time the area is lucky enough not to have been exploited by the package holiday companies and the only type of accommodation available in Duquesa other than the golf club is private.

All this said don't be fooled into thinking Duquesa is a back water resort with nothing to offer because this certainly is not the case.

The port boasts a wide choice of amenities including a supermarket, bank, butcher and a wide choice of affordable, top class restaurants which include Chinese, Thai, Italian, English and not forgetting Spanish cuisine. There's also a great Italian ice cream shop as well as many boutiques and numerous bars.

Across the road from the Marina is situated Duquesa Golf and Country Club which has some fantastic facilities - see the Golf page.

The Puerto de la Duquesa all year round moderate climate and over 300 days of sunshine make this an great location to live or holiday.

With the marina and extensive beaches, there are excellent opportunities for water sports in the Duquesa area, such as swimming, surfing, sailing, paragliding. The complex is surrounded by countryside and there is ample opportunity for walking and cycling across the hills. Twenty minutes walk from the apartment is the 18th century fortress of Castillo de La Duquesa, in the middle of what was once a large Roman fishing village. Situated by the sea, there are some quaint bars and popular seafood restaurants and also a small supermarket. There is also a children's play area.

A few minutes along a pleasant tree-lined beachfront promenade, you will come to the beautiful port of Duquesa with it's many attractions. The vast choice of eating and drinking options here include French, Italian, Chinese, English and of course Spanish.

The other side of the port is Duquesa's neighbour, the fishing village of Sabinillas. This is a few minutes walk along another very pretty promenade. The church is the centre of the village and the town square, surrounded by trees and flowers. There are several shops, banks and large supermarkets. Also there are beachfront cafes, restaurants and children's play area. The well maintained beaches are the highlight of Sabinillas.

Manilva is a charming white village, a few kilometers inland. Although tourists are just beginning to discover the village, it remains intrinsically Spanish. The town has a fascinating history which dates back to Roman times and there are some remarkably well- preserved Roman sulphur baths and an aqueduct. These are well worth a visit.

The village has several restaurants, near the baths. There is the well-known Roman Oasis and Restaurante Los Alamos, situated by the Manilva river. There is a stream and small lakes perfect for dipping into and some flat rocks suitable for picnics. There are also amazing views towards the mountains and some interesting footpaths.

All in all Duquesa is the kind of place to unwind and have fun.

Whatever your age or type of holiday you are looking for you will be more than pleased with what Duquesa has to offer.
