Hallo everyone! My name is SONIA and I am from Lucca. I run my Lucca Holiday Rentals company that offers exceptional apartments in the heart of Lucca. My goal is to help you fall in love with Lucca – to discover, explore, taste and savor new sights and experiences in this incredible city.
My company began almost 10 years ago when I started to rent my family villa after my parents moved to the mountains when they got retired. I spent there my entire childhood and I grew up there in deep contact with the nature and the history. My father thaught me everything about the birds and the antique trees and flowers of the villa and the smell of the sizzling pans used to wake me up each Sunday morning after my mum started to cook! I was fascinated by her when she was telling me the history of the villa in the past century. I thought this kind of feelings are too precious to let them go so then I had the idea to share my love of Lucca and “la dolce Vita” by finding beautiful apartments , villas and farmhouses in my favorite Lucca neighborhoods among my family members properties. Lucca Holiday Rentals started out as a boutique family company and now there are over 15 people working together. We are a friendly and enthusiastic team who will assist you every step of the way, from your first enquiry to your arrival in Lucca.
Mrs Sonia purchased this apartment in 2011

Once again Mrs Sonia and her team came thru. We had a big group but the three apartments were perfect, in a perfect location, all in the same building just down the street to the ice skating and main plaza. We were able, everyday, to just walk down to the Show where the Puccini concerts took place. No problem to get there, walk from station was short, bus was available and our favorite restaurant that Sonia suggested called GIGLIO was just one small block from apartments. We have stayed in Sonia’s apartments before, always have really like it and this time they had updated the bathrooms, very nice job. We love this area, lots of food, lots of shopping, great transportation. We are not afraid of buses or trains. We will probably come here again in Fall, great weather, not as many tourists, lots of fun everywhere. Loved it!
We just stayed in this apartment for 7 days November. We found it to be very clean, lots of nice quality linens and a great location for exploring Tuscany: we found it to be just what we wanted, and expected from the description. The kitchen is small but very well stocked! Everything works well, as was explained by our gracious host who welcomed us and showed us around. The apartment is very well located in Lucca, there are many great restaurants and amazing gelato just steps from your front door. It is a very easy walk from the train station to the apartment (less than 5 minutes). We visited in the middle of a very lovely November (best time to visit). Lucca from the flat is a treat, and basic groceries are available just round the corner. We really enjoyed Stella Polare, a bar/trattoria just up the street which serves wonderful 'aperitivi' [i.e.appies] with a good glass of local wine for 5 euros, and their Chicken alla Cacciatore is pretty good too! The 4.2 Km walk round the wall is just the thing to start the day, and there are bikes availble nearby for 3 euros per hour. For dinner with a tablecloth, try Giulio, and, if you want to eat with Italians, inside is the place to be! Altogether, a great week in an outstanding apartment. We highly recommend it and we would stay here again when visiting Tuscany.
I just wanted to thank you for arranging the apartment. We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and went out and about every day walking and sightseeing. We always had a good time and saw some wonderful things but every day we were happy to return to our favourite place, Lucca. You live in a truly beautiful, friendly, relaxing and enchanting city. All your properties are excellent and Casa Opera is our favourite. regards James + Elizabeth
The photos don't show what the apartment looks like now. It's very dirty. The sofa, chairs and dining chairs are in need of cleaning as do the dirty floors! The smaller bath has a constant sewer smell.
The location of the apartment is convenient to dining and shopping.
We were delighted to spend our holiday in this handsomely decorated, spotlessly clean, stylish and elegant accommodation in central Lucca.
The apartment is situated in a quiet leafy square but within a stones throw of busier streets and all the historical attractions in this lovely medieval city.
The representitive who met with, and dealt with us was charming, friendly, helpful and kind.
If you were holidaying during the week in term time, you may be as fortunate as we were to be awakened by the soothing sounds of beautiful classical music emanating from the church nearby.
We particularly enjoyed the Puccini music concerts held in the church of San Giovanni every day of the year and the wide choice of reasonably priced, good standard restaurants all over the city.
We would be delighted to recommend this property and Sonia’s company Lucca Apartments and Villas to any of our friends wishing to visit Tuscany.
A tastefully decorated, large apartment in a great location. Everything in walking distance (but so is everything else inside the walls of Lucca). Sonia put together a binder with some great information about local sites and businesses as well as things to do in nearby towns. Two bikes come with the apartment. The ac works well. You are right there in piazza San Giovanni. We sat out on the front steps of the building in the evenings and watched our daughter ride circles around the piazza.
Payment of remaining balance is either in cash or via PayPal. Paypal is only accepted if payment is made at least two days before arrival and we were not told this until our arrival day. My guess is that's their way of forcing cash payment.
The apartment is decorated very nicely but the kitchen chairs and living room furniture (all white) are stained and dingy. Our apartment was not clean when we arrived. We did have fresh bed and bath linens but the guest bathroom shower floor was stained with mold/grime, which indicated this place is not cleaned often. The guest bathroom smelled like a urinal. We purchased some cleaning spray at the grocery and sprayed the toilet bowl after every flush to help cover up the smell.
The floors in the entire flat were dirty. Dust bunnies everywhere. This is probably the reason why the furniture is so dingy.
There was just one bowl of any size in the entire kitchen. The refrigerator smelled so bad that it stunk up the entire kitchen every time we opened it. We tried to deodorize it to no avail.
The flat's windows were large but had no screens to keep out bugs. And even when the windows were closed and the shutters closed on top of them, you could hear every little thing going on outside in the piazza and the surrounding piazzas. We were startled awake during the night several times by people yelling. There is also a guy that runs through the piazza every night around 11:30 with a rickety hand truck, which makes an incredible racket on the stone street. You can hear everything that is going on outside and I think it's magnified because of sound bouncing off surrounding buildings and the fact the flat is at street level.
We stayed in the flat for a week and a half. Someone came and changed the linens after a week but did not clean.
This place was probably very nice when it was first decorated, but the lack of attention paid to details like cleaning and noise reduction made it a bit of a disappointment.
The apartment is located in the aquare where it takes place the antique market and also where it is located the famous church where every afternoon it takes place the Puccini arias concert.
The apartment is also located nextdoor to the theatre 'teatro del giglio' and the square piazza napoleone where the summer festival takes place. The apartment is located very close to the train station of lucca, in less than 5 mins walking.
In 1 mins walking from the apartment there is a bike rental shop, bakeries, groceries and so on.
The apartments are located in a very quiet square where there are no clubs and shops, so it makes it very very quiet.
The church bells do not work, so it is quiet!
