The Coach House is a meticulously renovated 18th century stable block nestled in the spectacular valley of the River Nore, one mile away from the beautiful village of Inistioge. We are registered with Failte Ireland and have been awarded 5 stars.
It is in a private & secluded courtyard setting, but with close access to plenty of local facilities in nearby Thomastown (3m) and Kilkenny (12m).
The property itself has been lovingly restored to the highest specifications with hand-crafted oak woodwork and natural stone throughout. Clean, light and spacious, it sleeps 8-11 people in two double bedrooms, one with a sofa bed and thee other with a single bed, a twin bedroom and a master bedroom with king-sized bed, an en suite bathroom and a balcony overlooking the valley. An extensively equipped kitchen, including a broad range of herbs and spices, opens out onto a breakfast patio which overlooks the private garden. There is a downstairs shower room, a utility room with a washer and drier, and a large conservatory that leads to the two vaulted downstairs bedrooms. Upstairs, the comfortably furnished sitting room has a wood burning stove and a selection of DVDs and Cds as well as satellite television and WIFI. The house was very comfortable and cozy. We loved every minute of it! It was a perfect home base for exploring the area. The house manager was very welcoming and helpful. We hope to be back. Thank you!
Our family stay at The CoachHouse was terrific. The house was perfect for our family of seven. We stayed there our first two nights of our ten night trip throughout Ireland and it was the perfect start to our trip. A beautiful home that gave us a great feel for Irish hospitality. The rooms were exactly how they are pictured. The beds were comfy and the baths and linens were top quality. We didn't have much time to use the kitchen other than breakfast and the house had everything we needed. The loaf of Irish breakfast bread was so delicious and much appreciated.
It was great to meet Owen when we arrived after communications via email from the states.
Overall we were very satisfied and would definitely recommend The Coach House.
My family of four plus my father just spent a week here and it couldn't have been better. The house was beautiful, welcoming, clean and had more than enough space for all of us. It was well-supplied and we appreciated having items like dish soap, laundry soap and sugar available so we didn't have to buy them for just one week. We enjoyed cooking and playing games at the house as well as using it as a base for exploring southwestern Ireland. We had a lovely walk into Inistioge from the house, seeing the famous bridge and the lovely town, churches and cemetery and picking blackberries along the road coming home. We also spent time in Thomastown (about 15 minutes away) and Kilkenny (about a 25 minute drive). We did a day visit to the Irish National Heritage Park in Wexford and then went to the Dunbrody Famine Ship in New Ross on the way back, and we'd really recommend both of those to visitors interested in history. It was our pleasure to spend our vacation in this lovingly restored and well-maintained historic property.
The Coach House is truly magical, like a portal back in time. The property and home were just what our family was looking for for our trip to the Irish countryside. The place is huge, our group of 7 adults was more than comfortable. We enjoyed the full kitchen and cooked several meals. The only reason I would not recommend the property is if Fast wifi is absolutely necessary for your stay. We had no problem with this, so 5 stars it is! Thank you Owen, we hope to be back!
Our stay in the beautiful coachhouse was very enjoyable. The house was clean and inviting and large enough for our group of ten adults. We were able to prepare meals in the morning and evening and during the day we ventured out to Kilkenney and Waterford. I would recommend this house to anyone traveling in County Carlow. My only regret was that we didn't plan to stay there longer!
Everything exceeded my expectations. The architecture is amazing and the detailing is perfect with quality construction throughout. The owner really did a outstanding job. Creature comforts are well attended to. WiFi needs some attention but that, in the scheme of things, is a very minor detraction. I would recommend the facility to my best friends. The village is welcoming with hosts that are varied and interesting. Characters abound opportunities for interaction with locals, who are very well informed, provide memorable experiences. I expect to be back.
