Zimbabwe is in South Central Africa, bordering the country of South Africa. This beautiful country has an incredible biodiversity. The Savannah grasslands are home to elephant, lion, buffalo, hyena, cheetah, monkey and antelope, making it a wonderful country to enjoy a wildlife safari from your Zimbabwe holiday rental. The main language spoken in Zimbabwe is English, which makes getting around the country very easy. Zimbabwe has suffered massive hyperinflation in the past and the Zimbabwe Dollar is completely worthless. Travellers to Zimbabwe should take US Dollars or South African Rand which are both widely accepted.

Visitors can go on day trips or stay overnight in a primitive lodge to see the “Big 5”. Hunting trips are also possible in Zimbabwe, although they are strictly controlled. The profits from hunting are used for the conservation of endangered species. Go shopping for handicrafts or go bird watching and trout fishing in Nyanga National park which has Zimbabwe lakeside cottages for rental. Bungee jumping, white-water rafting, canoeing and kayaking can all be enjoyed around Victoria Falls.
The spectacular Victoria Falls are considered one of the natural wonders of the world. The best way to reach them is by air to Victoria Falls (VFA) Airport and then use a local bus, car hire or taxi service. The ruins of Great Zimbabwe show evidence of the pastoral lifestyle of the African civilization dating back to the 13th and 14th centuries. They can be seen near the town of Masvingo. The Hwange National Park is one of the last great elephant sanctuaries in Africa, as well as being home to a huge variety of animals and birds. The Zambeze National Park also has many exotic animals which can be seen grazing in a parkland setting. For a more unusual trip, view wildlife from boats on Lake Kariba. Matoba National Park is best known for its spectacular rock formations and ancient rock paintings.
Zimbabwe has a sub-tropical climate and temperatures vary greatly according to the altitude. The cool dry season from May to August is a good time to visit, or the warm dry season from August to October. The Low Veld has much less rain than the High Veld at any time of year. Expect temperatures in Harare to range from 7-21°C (45-70°F) in June and July from night to day, and 16-27°C (61-81°F) in November.
Zimbabwe is served by the national airline, Air Zimbabwe. The main airports serving Zimbabwe holiday rental destinations are Harare International (HRE) Airport which is 14km (9 miles) outside the city, and Bulawayo (BUQ) airport which is 24km (15 miles) outside Bulawayo itself. Coaches run from Harare Airport into the city and there are plenty of local taxis. Flights from London to Harare take around 10 ½ hours.
