Arrive at this resort in summer, and you’ll be at one of Maine’s top golf courses. As you might expect, the challenging Sunday River Golf Club has some of the most dramatic variations in elevation around.

Sebago Lake would be good choice for a vacation rental in Western Maine. It’s the second largest lake in the state with a shoreline more than 100 miles in length. It’s especially popular for fishing trips, with an abundance of smelt, salmon and lake trout to be found in the waters. Other water sports are popular, including sailing, with a school operating on the shore here. The lake is part of the wider Sebago Lake State Park, and the surrounding forests can be explored along trails.

It’s a stunning area, with a number of mountain peaks, great for recreation like hiking, cross-country skiing, canoeing, fishing and mountain biking.
