We had a great experience at this location. Even with a slight change of plans, the host was able to accommodate our need to change the schedule. The location is 4 out of 5 because of the walk to the ferry. It was more like a 20 minute walk then a 25 minute ride to the city.

Carmen's place was very cosy and clean. The beds were quite comfortable and we had everything that we needed. We only stayed for two nights but we could have stayed for a week because there was plenty of room for the four of us. Carmen was very accommodating and easy to work with. The walk to the ferry was only 10 to 15 minutes and riding the ferry to Manhattan was very easy and actually one of our favorite parts of the trip. The ferry is free and goes right by the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island. We came to see those attractions so it was easy to get off the Staten Island Ferry and hop a National Park ferry to the statue and Ellis Island. We then walked to the One World Tower, the 911 Memorial, the Brooklyn Bridge, and then a short cab ride for dinner in Little Italy. After all this we took the ferry back to Staten Island and viewed the city at night as well as the Statue all lit up. It was very cool. As far as the location went it was easy to the ferry, the neighborhood was not upscale but we felt safe enough to walk home at 10pm. The price is very good so you have to figure that into the equation. Carmen's place itself is in good shape.
