The famous Seagrove Pottery Highway is just down the road from Pinehurst golf homes. It connects a number of pottery studios in this area which has traditionally been the home of Seagrove Potters since the late 1700s due to the fine local clay. Seagrove now has around 100 pottery shops along with the North Carolina Pottery Centre which is ideal for picking up local pottery souvenirs. Keen gardeners will enjoy visiting Sandhills Horticultural Gardens nearby which covers 27 acres within the grounds of Sandhill Community College. They include a formal English-style garden, collections of holly and conifers, a wetland trail, fruit and vegetable gardens and beds of colourful roses, azaleas and rhododendrons in season. The gardens are open to the public with free admission.
