Weather in New York

New York is a state with a humid continental climate, which on the whole makes for warm summers and cold winters. In northern, central and western parts of the state temperatures fall to as low as -15 in winter, and the cold weather lasts from November through to mid-March. Spring conditions are mild and occasionally warm, with highs in the upper-teens, while summer conditions are consistently warm in all areas apart from the highest ground – July sees daily temperatures reaching the upper-20s in places like New York City and Albany.

Travel to New York

New York City has a vast public transport system of buses, the subway and commuter trains that accounts for a higher proportion of commuter traffic than any other city in the country. In Buffalo there’s the Metro Rail – the second largest light railway in the state. Amtrak meanwhile provides an intercity service throughout the state, with the Empire Service connecting New York City with Niagara Falls. By road there are three interstates running from north to south, and five from east to west.
