Make a holiday villa in Eustis your home away from home
Holiday villas in Eustis put guests within easy striking distance of Orlando and all it has to offer, while maintaining a quiet lakeland retreat away from the hustle and bustle of the city. Eustis rentals are surrounded by lakes and bordered to the north by Ocala National Forest, so the peace and quiet of Florida's natural beauty provides a welcome respite to the whitened knuckles and overtaxed adrenal glands Orlando's more excessive theme park rides produce. Most Eustis holiday accommodation comes with air-conditioning, satellite or cable TV, and easy access to a golf course. Some rentals at Eustis are sited on the waterfront and have access to a pool and BBQ area.
Things to do
-Nature: With Ocala National Forest just to the north and surrounded by lakes, Eustis holiday villas are perfectly positioned for access to these areas. The huge Ocala National Forest contains the Juniper Springs and Buck Lake recreation areas, both very popular for camping, hiking, biking and kayaking.
-Beaches: Many of the surrounding lakes have shores that could quite easily pass for what anyone would consider a beach, but this is Florida; and the miles of endless sand can only be found on the coast. While Eustis is equidistant from both coasts, at around an hour away, the Atlantic to the east has the best beaches on this latitude.
-Watersports: Lake Harris, Lake Dona and Lake Eustis are a hotbed of watersports, and the number of marinas available to ply this trade are testament to their popularity. Sailing and waterskiing are both amply covered, as are many of the more exotic spin-off activities.
-Theme Parks: Proximity to Orlando means days can easily be spent swapping time between hair-raising rides and marvelling at the sheer size of the resorts. Disney World and Universal Studios are obviously the most popular resorts, but some of the smaller parks are well worth a visit too, including Legoland and Sea World.
-Nightlife: Nightlife often goes hand in hand with water activities, and Eustis is no exception. Despite the town's small size, there are numerous pubs and diverse eateries, and a refreshing lack of chain outlets. Though maybe not quite the knee's up guests might expect on the coast, Eustis can certainly quench a thirst.
Weather in Eustis
Florida's climate is described as 'humid subtropical', which essentially means hot and wet for much of the year. This wet season sees high average temperatures in the mid-30°C range, and covers the summer and much of the spring and autumn, meaning the dry winter has what's left. Average high temperatures in the winter hover around the low to mid-20s. Most of the rain falls during the summer as afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
Travel to Eustis
Eustis' proximity to Orlando means the city's two international airports are the most convenient for getting in. Of course, fly/drive is the wisest way to travel in the US, but Orlando does have a fairly extensive public transport system, and carless is a real, albeit inconvenient, possibility. Orlando International Airport is 49 miles from Eustis, while Orlando-Sanford International is 32 miles away. Orlando-Sanford carries more budget airlines. Orlando also has an Amtrak and Greyhound station, should the romance of a train or bus journey take hold.
