Make a holiday rental home in Arizona your home away from home

Arizona is a hugely endearing state of the USA. Although huge regions of Arizona are desert, there are so many things in Arizona which simply must be done. Most people’s idea of Arizona will stem from its premier attraction, The Grand Canyon, but there is so much entertainment in Arizona that anything short of a full guide book cannot do it justice. There is some excellent shopping in Arizona, and many people who originally visited a family holiday rental now call Arizona home.

Arizona; Things to do on holiday in Arizona

Arizona is home to over 300 golf courses, making the state one of the best destinations for golf holidays. Arizona’s desert landscape means that there is a huge amount of room for golf courses, and there are some absolutely fantastically designed courses.

Arizona’s landscape consists largely of desert and mountains, littered with fantastic spots to go fishing, sailing, climbing, pot holing, white water rafting, horse riding, cycling and nature watching. Tourism in Arizona is strongly focused on outdoor activities and the great outdoors, but throughout Arizona, entertainment of all descriptions from shopping to spa treatments thrives.

There are even some ski resorts in Arizona. Flagstaff lies deep in the forested mountains of Arizona, and has some of the best terrain for beginners anywhere in the southwest of the USA.

Of course, no guide to tourism in Arizona would be complete without a mention of the most astonishing thing in Arizona; The Grand Canyon. The changing colours of The Grand Canyon in the evening is a staggering sight, and no matter how well prepared you think you are, the sight of this massive chasm cannot fail to impress. Wherever you decide to take a family holiday rental in Arizona, travel to The Grand Canyon and you will not be disappointed.

Places to visit on holiday in Arizona

Scottsdale is a youthful community in the desert of Arizona, and with over 170 Arizona golf courses, Scottsdale is the prime destination for Arizona golf holidays. The beautiful desert landscape is inspirational, and if you manage to drag yourself away from the finest golf courses in Arizona, the parks and mountains which line the Salt River are a veritable play ground for walking, mountain climbing, horse riding, kayaking and hot air balloon rides.

Phoenix, in an area known as the Valley of the Sun, is a wonderful cosmopolitan city which is well worth exploring from any Arizona family holiday rental. Around the area are a wealth of Arizona golf courses, scenic day trips into the mountains and deserts and hiking trails.

Fountain Hills is a great desert community east of Scottsdale. The name derives from the fountain in the centre of the town, which is one of the worlds largest. Surrounded by golf courses, towering mountains and adventure sport centres along the Salt River, Fountain Hills is a great place to find entertainment in Arizona.

Weather in Arizona

Summers in Arizona are very hot, with temperatures routinely reaching 40°C during June, July and August. Even during the winter months, temperatures are warmer than those of the British summertime, averaging 19°C over Christmas.

Travel to Arizona

Finding a direct flight to an Arizona home from the UK is difficult, but with six international airports in the state, there are plenty of options from across the UK needing only one connection. Once in Arizona, travel is best done in a private rental car, as the distances between settlements and attractions are quite large.

Enjoyed very much.

5 of 5
We very much enjoyed our month-long stay in Rio Verde, AZ. The one-floor (no steps) townhouse was recently renovated, thoughtfully so. Beds were comfortable. There is Cox cable on two TVs. The main reason we chose this home was because it is close to McDowell Regional Park Verde Trailhead (3/4 mile away) which has wonderful biking/hiking trails in the Sonoran desert-- we didn't have to load up our bikes to ride. Road biking is also very popular in the area, with lots of bike lanes. We were able to park our Yukon XL in the garage, but had to take the bike rack off the back (=ok). Hubby took frequent advantage of the free golf with cushy cart -- great availability in the afternoon. Restaurants are a few miles away in Fountain Hills and Scottsdale, but we usually stocked up 2-3 days of food each time we went out. One afternoon we drove over to Saguaro Lake and took the Desert Belle boat tour -- very interesting, starts loading about 20 minutes ahead of time. The Sheriff frequently patrols the country roads, so don't speed. We will be back again next year.
