Relaxing Break in Comfortable Well Appointed Cottage

5 of 5
The Old Wool Shop has been well modernised to provide comfortable and well appointed accommodation in Redmire village First impressions on arrival were positive with the cottage looking good as you approach down a quiet lane. Inside the accommodation was very clean well appointed and comfortable with the interior being much larger than you would think from the road frontage. Redmire is a great base for exploring Wensleydale either on foot, with good and varied walks starting from the village, or by car with the vibrant market towns of Leyburn and Hawes being within easy reach. Exploration of the wider Yorkshire Dales is also easy with Swaledale and Wharfedale being easily reached. There are good local attractions to explore with The Forbidden Corner, Bolton Castle, Aysgarth Falls and the Wensleydale Railway all being recommended. Redmire does not have a shop but there are excellent grocers and the co-op in nearby Leyburn where there is a good choice of local products and an excellent butchers counter in Campbell's Grocers. The Friday Market is also well worth exploring with a great fishmongers van. Hawes also has good butchers and of course the Wensleydale Creamery; home to Wensleydale Cheese, which is also well worth a visit. The Bolton Arms is less than five minutes walk from the cottage; locals are welcoming, the food we sampled was good and importantly the beer is well kept. Tip - book if you want to eat as it can be busy. Would we return - definitely yes! Would we recommend The Old Wool Shop - definitely yes!
