Great place to stay for a break in a scenic valley

4 of 5
Our family of three had a lovely 3 night break at the Chapel in late Oct 2017. The accommodation was unique, very spacious and had fantastic views of the surrounding valley from the upstairs windows. Everything was clean and well equipped for a self-catering stay in beautiful surroundings. Unfortunately the wood burning stove was out of action for our stay and we couldn’t get the wifi to work, but it didn’t stop us having a great mini break. If you love the countryside and walking the Chapel is a good base from which to have some great days out. We did a couple of very long walks which took in the splendour of the surrounding area and luckily the weather stayed dry and bright for us. Our first walk was from Llangollen, up to the Castle Dinas Bran (where we stood in the windiest spot imaginable and almost took off), then along the top of the valley and down to the amazing Pontcysyllte Aqueduct, we then followed the canal all the way back to Llangollen. For our second walk we got the local bus from Glyn Ceiriog to Llangollen, then got the scenic train to Glyndyfrdwy station, and then did a long trek, with waterfalls and amazing views, up and over the valley all the way back to the Chapel (a map is required for this one). On our last night we ate out at The West Arms Hotel in the nearby village of a Llanarmon, and a had a lovely meal in the snug and welcoming bar area, complete with roaring fire which was very cosy on a dark Autumn evening. All in all it was a lovely break and we would definitely like to return to explore some more of this beautiful area.
