  • Ideal location / beautiful house

We loved the house, and it is in the perfect location for the park, town, and beach. We didn't move the cars all week, as we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go.(which is just as well really: see my comment below) Early morning walks with a toddler took us through the back streets to West Cliff and the whale bones, or down to the fish market to check on the early catch, or up to the 199 steps while the roads were empty! The tea stall by the fish market is worth an early morning visit for tea, and bacon rolls. Having a mixed age range - from 2 to 65 - it was great being close enough for everyone to do their own thing, but still meet up for lunch or dinner, without any hassle. The park is only 5 minutes away as well, which is great for tiring out children before bed time. The house is big, with accommodation spread over 3.5 floors. Lots of room so no getting on each others nerves. Lovely big table for meal times, and squashy sofas in the living room. The only difficult bit ( and it is very small difficulty) is the parking. We played car jenga getting 2 cars into the parking space, so be aware of that if bringing bigger cars. We brought a Qashqai and an Infiniti. The Infiniti is a long car, and the lane is quite small, so getting into the parking, and leaving room for the other car, plus space for us to walk to the door, was fun but tight ! It's still worth it for the house and location though. Everyone voted it the best Whitby holiday we have had, and we would certainly book again.

  • Beautiful cottage, perfect to explore the area

We had a lovely midweek stay at Burton Cottage. It is set up with everything that could be needed. Perfectly located for exploring the village and the area. I could spend all day just sat looking out the window in the living room. We enjoyed it so much we want to book again for next year!
