Wadebridge is a town in North Cornwall, situated on the Camel estuary. It is named after the large old bridge that runs through the middle of the town. Districts around the centre of Wadebridge include Trevanson, Gonvena, Egloshayle, Trevanion, Polmorla and St Breock and is within easy travelling distance of the towns of Bodmin and Padstow as well as the City of Plymouth. There are several main events in Wadebridge each year and Molesworth Street; the main shopping area, which is for pedestrians only.

Things to do in Wadebridge

Annual events staged at Wadebridge include the Royal Cornwall Agricultural Show in June, the Eglos Craft Fayre at Egloshayle Church in August, the Cornwall Folk Festival over the August bank holiday and Wadebridge Carnival in July. The Royal Cornwall Showground is also the venue for Cornwall's biggest antique fair. In November there is the Prime Stock Show and the Garden Produce Association and Chrysanthemum Show.

Wadebridge has lots of side streets to explore with all sorts of interesting and unusual shops to find unique gifts. The town has the normal assortment of supermarket, newsagents, butchers, and many restaurants, cafes and pubs. Set out from your Cornish cottage to Bodmin General and you can enjoy a steam train journey through the beautiful countryside on the Bodmin and Wenford Railway.

Lanhydrock House is a late Victorian county house run by the National Trust. It has extensive gardens, servant's quarters, wooded estate, family museum and guided garden tours. Other places of interest within travelling distance of your holiday cottage include Trago Mills out of town shopping centre, Pencarrow, Cornwall's Crealy Adventure Park, Trelawney Garden and Leisure and St Mawgan Bowl at St Eval.

Wadebridge's climate is mild as is the rest of Cornwall. However, the nearer you get to the north Cornwall coast the cooler it becomes, especially when the north wind blows off the sea.

Newquay and Plymouth airports and the mainline railway at Bodmin Parkway and Liskeard serve Wadebridge. National Express operates a direct service from London and there is a good local bus service from First and Western Greyhound.

Many thanks to Paul and Yvette for the welcome box...the clotted cream and scones went down a treat at the end of such a long journey. We found Par an excellent point to explore the south and west coast's and very convenient for the Eden Project.

Schönes Cottage nähe Tintagel

Unser Cottage hat uns sehr gut gefallen. Wir waren nur zu zweit, aber auch für vier Personen ist reichlich Platz vorhanden. Das Meer ist in Sichtweite. Das Cottage liegt sehr ruhig und bis zum nächsten Ort Tintagel sind es mit dem Auto 8-10 Minuten. In Tintagel gibt es gute Restaurants und Cafe`s, sowie kleinere Supermärkte und einen sehr guten Bäcker. Außerdem natürlich viele kleinere Geschäfte die zum Bummeln einladen. Wir haben dei Ruhe unseres Cottage sehr genossen und können es nur weiterempfehlen.
