We were having some building work at home so needed somewhere close by for the 2 of use and our cat. This couldn't have been more ideal for us. Big enough as to not get under each others feet, quiet enough for us to relax away from the stress of the building work, and homely enough that even our cat settled in within minutes. On our first night we looked over the hedge and saw deer grazing wild and what with the horses (its a working stable/equestrian center and a good one by the looks of it) and sheep, it couldn't have been more peaceful and at one with nature if it tried. I'd recommend this for anyone interested in horses for sure. I believe they offer courses or rides but that's not for me. I'd also recommend it to anyone wanting to use it as a base as its quite central to a lot of National Trust and English heritage sites. But most of all i'd just recommend it because it was so relaxing. Staff/owner really friendly and left us to it which was nice. Easy to get to. Facilities ideal but we ate out most of the time. 2 restaurants close by (Indian and Italian) we're really good. We would love to stay again but doubtful as its so close to where we live and only wanted somewhere close while the building work was being carried out.

Great location, easy access to walking tracks and as a hub to Ashdown Forest. Original pub with excellent food within walking distance. Wonderful spacious hideaway, for 4 adults it is on the small side. We would love to return.
