Tenby is a seaside town in Pembrokeshire and is situated on the South-west coast of Wales. Every year, Tenby plays host to a vast number of tourists who enjoy the 2.5miles of sandy beaches, the rich heritage and around 200 listed buildings within the town limits. Popular with families and couples alike, holiday cottages in Tenby provide a good base for both cultural and outdoor pursuits.

Alternatively, HomeAway has a number of delightful cottages in the Pembrokeshire National Park which offer visitors a variety of activities, including walking, hiking and sporting pursuits.

Things to do

Beaches: With over 2 miles of golden sand to explore, Tenby offers ample opportunity for scenic walks, swimming and watersports. Pembrokeshire beaches are regularly awarded with various accolades and the many beaches within easy reach of Tenby holiday apartments are no exception. While the North Beach has been named Best Magazine’s Best Beach, the North, Castle and South Beach have all been awarded Blue Flag Status. The majority of Tenby’s beaches have numerous facilities either on or close by, including shops, cafés, public restrooms, hire facilities and tourist information. In addition, the more popular beaches, including the North, South and Castle Beaches have a lifeguard patrol and dog restrictions during the summer months.

Caldey Island: No trip to Tenby would be complete without a visit to the tranquil island of Caldey. Home to an order of Cistercian Monks, the island is renowned for being a peaceful and reflective area. The island includes a host of churches and historic buildings open to the public, a lighthouse with breathtaking views and the opportunity of meeting with the island’s family of Atlantic Grey Seals.

Family attractions: From the famous Dinosaur Park to the attractions of the nearby Bluestone Park, there is a host of family fun waiting in Tenby. Whilst smaller children will enjoy the number of indoor and outdoor playing areas, the older members of the family have a variety of watersports, climbing and sailing activities to keep them busy. The Blue Lagoon Water Park, located just outside of Tenby, offers a variety of flumes and rides as well as whirlpools and jacuzzis for those looking for some respite.

Shopping: Tenby plays host to a number of unique and boutique shops. The local landscape with its traditional buildings and the town’s famed 13th-century walls is the perfect setting for local artisans and crafters to sell handmade gifts, local produce and some of the perfumes created by the Caldey Monks.

Weather

Whilst Wales is renowned for being wet and windy, Tenby’s southerly coastal location gives it a much more pleasant climate. Average temperatures in the summer months tend to reach 19°C, whilst visitors can expect an average of ten days rainfall in the summer, rising to 16 over the winter months. June, July and August tend to be the hotter, sunnier months with temperatures dipping slightly in September as the area welcomes the Wales Ironman Competition.

Holiday apartments in Tenby are the perfect base for a weekend away or family holiday, and the area is easily reached by public transport and road. The main road into Tenby is the A477 from Camarthen. Visitors from the north and the Midlands can access this from Chester by following the A483, whilst visitors from the South can follow the M4 from Cardiff. Lovely apartment in a beautiful location!

5 of 5
We really thought this place was too good to be true! It was so easy to book, Karen & Dave were great at getting back to us with advise on the local area. Checking in was the easiest experience I've ever had and the apartment is beautiful! It was perfect for our family 2 plus 2 children 10 yrs & 8 months. The apartment has everything you could need including baby equipment so no need to pack the travel cot. The location is stunning - so close to loads of amazing beaches and right in the heart of a lovely old walled town. I would definitely recommend this place - book it straight away! We'll be back.
