What a wonderful place to stay, quiet and relaxing. Cannot wait to book again for our next visit.

                          Charming croft, beautiful location

                          5 of 5
This was our first stay on Skye and I think we struck lucky with this house. Although it looks quite small from the outside, it's actually a bit of a tardis with ample space for 4 adults, 3 children and 2 dogs. It was clean and well - maintained with the cosy feel of a traditional croft, yet bright and spacious with a particularly lovely dining area. The glass doors and roof throw the light in even on the gloomiest of days (not that there were many in Skye - usually we saw all weathers in one day). There is a fantastic selection of books in a variety of genres and a fireplace in each of the living areas so many evenings were spent reading in front of the fire after a day's walking. Beds were super comfy and my room had a desk beneath a window looking out onto the sea. We saw the Highland Games while we were there as the croft is a 20 minute drive from Portree which is the main town - a very small and pretty harbour with a great seafood restaurant on the front. The service there was fantastic; my son is coeliac and the waitress even phoned us back to let us know what was gluten free on the menu that evening. Scenery in Skye is breathtaking and there are some intense rainbows. We saw seals on the white coral beach and the children watched Angus shear the sheep right outside our door and they swam in icy fairy pools (children, not sheep!). In short, it was Paradise. We could happily have stayed on and on until I'd read all the books .... Thanks, Caroline, for a truly lovely stay.

Beautiful place to stay and explore!

My partner and I stayed here for 1 week to use as a base to explore Skye and the Highlands. I thoroughly recommend!! We made a fantastic choice! The cottage is basic and could perhaps have some more modern furniture/bedding covers and could benefit from some central heating(!) but this does actually all add to the charm of this beautifully located cottage. Amazing views of the Lough and the local farms, and a lovely host in Betty who will warmly greet you with a cup of tea and a chocolate biscuit, no matter what time you arrive!! We will most certainly be returning in the near future and I would recommend to anyone looking for a secluded self catering cottage on the Isle of Skye!!
