  • Great holiday property

This well laid out and well appointed first floor flat is very conveniently situated for all that Salcombe has to offer. The accommodation is beautifully decorated with lovely details. I loved the Susie Watson furnishings, Vi-Spring Beds and Robert Welch Cutlery, among many other nice touches. It was an easy walk to the town centre to buy croissants for breakfast (a less easy walk back!) or to look round the town. The ferry to East Portlemouth meant you could go to the beach without getting in the car and we enjoyed the ferry back from South Sands after visiting the National Trust at Overbecks. We were near enough to the Salcombe dairy to get the ice cream back without melting and could taste the Gin at the Salcombe Gin company without worrying about driving back (take ID if you're under 25). The house had all that we needed and everything was easy to find, being stored in intuitive places where you'd expect to find things. The balcony was lovely for enjoying our breakfasts in the early September sun. We didn't watch much telly, but when we did, it was pretty fancy and we could catch up with the US Open tennis matches, which we didn't expect. Beds were comfy.Sometimes in rental properties there alternative options to the bedding, such as blankets or lighter duvets stacked in wardrobes, but here there was only an (approximately) 10 tog quilt, so if you feel the heat, bring something lighter with you). Everything worked well and there was even a knife sharpener (we'd brought one with us as we're used to the state of end-of-holiday-season knives, but we didn't need it!!). Rooms were a good size and the place was well equipped. We had a lovely time and hopefully we will be back.

  • Good base for family holiday

There’s plenty of room for a large family in this house and garden near Hope Cove, though parking is restricted. It’s conveniently located - near to several nice beaches (including dog-friendly South Milton), Salcombe and Kingsbridge. Other tourist attractions aren’t far away, including Plymouth (National Marine Aquarium) and the Otter and Butterfly Centre at Buckfastleigh (arrive by steam train from Totnes!). We ate out at Hope Cove a couple of times, BBQ’d a couple of times, had a curry delivered one night, and cooked inside. There are plenty of games and books to keep everyone entertained (we didn’t watch the TV at all). Everything was clean, beds were comfy and the showers had plenty of hot water. Some minor maintenance is required, but nothing to spoil our holiday. We would recommend.
