  • Fantastic weekend in The Old Woodyard

Fabulous weekend celebrating my parents 60th Wedding Anniversary, The house had everything we needed (including an extra fridge in the kitchen for the booze) and it is absolutely gorgeous, the bedrooms are all bright and roomy and the living room has a very relaxing homely feel about it, the Hot Tub is a great little extra and the towels and slippers provided were a lovely touch. There is plenty of room both inside and out and it was great to be able to park all our cars in the yard.(5 cars) Noriko is a fabulous host, not only did she answer my questions immediately before we arrived but she also left us some gorgeous cakes and a bottle of bubbly for my parents and had put up some banners, which was a lovely welcome and my parents were over the moon. The house is in a lovely country setting with fantastic views, I absolutely loved looking out over the canal and hills from the observation lookout. We walked both ways along the canal, into Marsden and Slaithwaite and it was so peaceful and beautiful, even the rain didn't put us off!. We will definitely come back again and I would recommend this property to everyone. Thank you Noriko and Mark

We were made to feel very welcome by our host Fiona who laid on a tea of sandwiches and cakes when we arrived as well as providing some essentials so we didn't need to shop straight away. The accommodation is lovely, well equipped with everything we needed. Just a stones throw from the M62 so getting there was easy and tucked away in a valley in the Pennine Hills, it is very quiet and relaxing. There are several local reservoirs which make a nice walk and the village of Denshaw is charming. There is also a great local pub. Hollingworth Lake is also worth a visit and provides water based activities such as sailing and windsurfing. The owners live next door and were keen to make sure we enjoyed our stay and had everything we needed. Highly recommended.
