Cottage was quietly located with a pleasant garden. Owner helped us unload car. Milk in fridge and eggs from owners hens were provided. Park and ride to Whitby was quite near and very frequent (every 15 minutes). Would advise not taking car into Whitby which was very busy. Visit to Botham's tea room in Whitby is recommended. Location of cottage was convenient for travelling to various places including Sandsend, Runswick Bay, North York Moors centre at Danby, Saltburn, Robin Hoods Bay etc. Also enjoyed trip on the heritage railway. Steam engine took us from Grosmont to Pickering and back. Plenty of good walks in the area but some are very hilly! At the cottage,we made friends with the fussiest cats I have ever met. Also enjoyed meeting the alpacas. Note that it is difficult to find anywhere in the area to park that is free. Pay and Display car parks are the norm and are not cheap, so it is advisable to ensure that a plentiful supply of pound coins are available!

We had a superb stay in Hill Cottage in September. The cottage has been refurbished to a very high standard and was very warm and cosy. The views from the lounge on the top floor are amazing and well worth the climb. Just a short stroll to two very good pubs for food and drink. Good walking area and access to The Cleveland Way. We fell in love with Staithes and Hill Cottage and hope to return.
