Make a holiday cottage in Polzeath your home away from home

Polzeath is a beautiful seaside village in North Cornwall that is well known as one of the UK’s top surfing destinations. The village also attracts holidaymakers who are interested in exploring all the outdoor activities the area has to offer. The coastline around Polzeath is stunning and in summer Polzeath Beach is as attractive to sunbathers and families as it is to surfers when the waves are breaking. In addition to walking along the coast, Polzeath is also a favourite destination for cycling and angling. In comparison to accommodation in Cornwall’s other major surf town of Newquay, Polzeath offers a quieter setting whilst still offering plenty to do.

HomeAway has an extensive selection of holiday cottages in Polzeath available for rent starting at around £350 per week. The rentals range from having two to seven bedrooms and can sleep up to 14 guests, making it an appealing holiday location for couples, families, and groups alike. Many Polzeath holiday cottages boast sea views, Wi-Fi, and a wealth of other thoughtful amenities.

Things to do

-Outdoor activities: There are several wonderful coastal walks originating from Polzeath. East of the village are a series of tidal pools and beaches that are well suited for families. The path heading west is a little more challenging, but rewards participants with beautiful cliff-top views of the sea. Cycling enthusiasts can take to the 17-mile Camel Trail, which follows the River Camel. The river is also a popular spot for fishing, with day fishing passes available from Polzeath.

-Golf: St. Enodoc Golf Club is located just three miles south of most holiday homes in Polzeath. It is considered one of the best golf destinations in the UK and contains two separate courses. The Church Course is the more prestigious of the two with commanding views of historic St. Enodoc Church and the coastline. The Holywell Course is better suited to more novice golfers as there is no handicap requirement.

-Beaches: Polzeath is home to its very own sandy beach that is well rated and attracts visitors from all around the UK. Greenaway Beach is within walking distance from Polzeath holiday homes and is an ideal place to take the family. Full of rocky tide pools, there is plenty to explore here. Daymer Bay is located a little further afoot and is a good place for swimming in the summer. There are also several excellent sandy beaches in the popular seaside resort town of Padstow, which is a short drive from Polzeath and has gained popularity as a foodie destination thanks to Rick Stein and his restaurants.

-Watersports: Polzeath Beach is one of the most famous surfing beaches in the UK. It is extremely popular with surfers and is watched by lifeguards in the summer months. The beach also boasts wetsuit hire and other facilities that make it a convenient spot for surfers. Several surf schools also operate on Polzeath Beach and offer lessons to beginners.

Weather in Polzeath

The weather in Polzeath is pleasantly mild. Beachgoers will find ideal conditions from June to September, when high temperatures reach into the high-teens and low-20s. There’s also plenty of sunshine to enjoy from March to September and this is the best time to book holiday cottages in Polzeath. A perfect beachside hideaway

5 of 5
A perfect modern, clean and relaxed home away from home. It really is 50 yards to the beach, yet well enough hidden away to feel insulated from the hustle and bustle. The garden provides an oasis of calm (although we only got to take full advantage once thanks to the British wet weather). The litmus test of 'would we want to live here for longer?' is a wholehearted 'yes'. We couldn't recommend it enough - in fact our neighbours decided to validate our recommendation after visiting us by booking it for next year!
