Oxfordshire is a delightfully quaint part of the English countryside, steeped in history and festooned with picturesque scenes worthy of any decorative chocolate box! There seem to be two sides to Oxfordshire holidays; firstly, holidays taking advantage of the incredible rural beauty, whether by travelling slowly through it or simply immersing yourself in the warmth of the local community, or secondly, Oxford holidays sightseeing in the county’s capital city, where many centuries of history are brought to life.

The Cottage Which Has It All

5 of 5
We have just returned from this delightful cottage which really did have it all. Where do I start. The cottage is picture book perfect, it stands in the grounds of a lovely estate, in a very pretty small village. And that's before you even open the door. My first overall impression was of cleanliness, closely followed by coziness. The living area is of good proportions and it doesn't have the usual "anything will do. It's only a holiday cottage" type of furniture. It is all of a very good quality and in very good condition and also very comfortable. The kitchen is small but you're on holiday and not going to be cooking huge party meals. It is very well equipped with absolutely everything you could need and all the china is of good quality and does not show any wear and tear whatsoever. I find this unusual (but very welcome) in a holiday home. We didn't use the log fire as it was never cold enough, also the central heating was very fast and efficient, which was enough to take the chill off the September evenings. However it would be lovely and cosy in the winter with the fire lit. As it can be seen from my comments we have had a lovely holiday and I can definitely recommend this accommodation. We would certainly go back if we intended visiting this area again.
