Make a holiday cottage in Newquay your home away from home

Situated on the North Coast of Cornwall, Newquay is one of the UK’s most beloved seaside resort towns. Famous for its glorious beaches that attract families, couples, and surfers alike, Newquay is also a cultural hub filled with excellent restaurants and exciting attractions. Because its accommodation is easier to reach than that of other popular towns like St. Austell and St. Ives, Newquay is busy throughout the year.

HomeAway has a large number of holiday cottages in Newquay where visitors can feel right at home. The apartments generally have between one and three bedrooms, are all fully furnished, and enjoy easy access to everything Newquay has to offer. As an added bonus, many Newquay holiday apartments offer added amenities such as Wi-Fi, a pool, and the ability to accommodate pets. Smaller apartments start at just £250 per week, whilst larger accommodation options are priced between £300 - £500 per week depending on location and amenities.

Things to do

-Beaches: Without a doubt, beaches are the biggest draw in Newquay. There are eight sandy beaches located right in town and several more lying on its outskirts. For surfers, Fistral Beach provides the most consistent waves and is just a 20-minute walk from most central Newquay holiday apartments. Surf lessons, equipment rental, parking for cars, and restaurant facilities are all available here. Families will find Great Western Beach, Towan Beach, and Tolcarne Beach all suitable for a fun day out. These three beaches are also a good choice for novice surfers.

-Golf: Straddling the coastline, Newquay Golf Club is a prominent feature of Newquay and offers an 18-hole course that golfers will really enjoy. Open to visitors seven days per week, the course is located just a short stroll from many holiday homes in Newquay. There are also a number of other courses located less than five miles from town, including Treloy Golf Club, Merlin Golf Club, and Perranporth Golf Club.

-Family activities: The Blue Reef Aquarium and Newquay Zoo are both situated right in town and are excellent places to take children. For safe swimming, families can visit the Oasis Fun Pool, which features geysers, water slides, and waterfalls. Another popular activity for families staying in Newquay holiday accommodation is to head to the harbour and join a dolphin-watching tour.

-Historic sites: Located just outside of town, Trerice Manor House is a stunning Elizabethan Manor that has been preserved under the National Trust. It is a wonderful place to visit for people of all ages and hosts a number of activities and historic exhibits throughout the year. Also situated just outside of town is the Classic Air Force Museum, which houses the largest collection of mid-20th-century aircraft in the world.

-Food and drink: When visiting the heart of Cornwall, sampling the local cuisine is a must. From Cornish pasties to stargazy pies, Newquay has it all. With its seaside locale, there are a number of great seafood restaurants in town ranging from fine dining to casual fish and chip shops. Other cuisines, including Italian, Mexican, Chinese, and Indian, can all also be found around Newquay.

Weather in Newquay

Newquay’s coastal location means that it enjoys pretty steady temperatures across the seasons. July and August are the warmest months, with an average high temperature of 19°C. The coldest months are December through March, when temperatures struggle to reach the double-digits. These chilly conditions are also accompanied by heavier rainfall.

Travel to Newquay

Newquay is perhaps the best-connected town in Cornwall. From the M5 at Exeter, drivers can follow the A30 and exit onto the A392 to head right into town. Newquay is also easily accessible by rail and is a 6.5-hour train journey from Central London. A third option for visitors is to fly into Newquay Cornwall Airport, which is just five miles east of the centre of town.

Fantastic Holiday

5 of 5
We had an absolutely fabulous time, five adults and two children spent a week at the house. The house is beautifully decorated with many unique/ bespoke pieces. Loved the hand made fish that seemed to swim across the wall in the lounge. I had my two grandsons of six and three and was consciously aware on arrival that they would have to be careful but after 24 hours into the holiday the thought just disappeared. They are pretty well behaved boys but sometimes excitement gets the better of them. We also had my daughter who has Tourette's and found the upstairs room which is on the same level as the lounge and kitchen perfect for her. She had a sea view and could watch the boys play in the garden. She likes her own space so being in her own room but not far from everyone else in the lounge particularly in the evening was ideal. The house is so spacious and exceptionally clean with lots of light wood around. The house exceeded our expectations. On arrival day we walked down the steps to the beach which are a bit tricky but was worth it to see the boys jumping in and out of the rock pools. I found the climb back a bit difficult as after a back operation as left me with weak muscle tone, my husband and my sons admitted it was quite steep but found it ok. On the first evening we barbecued and ate outside which was lovely. The house has three bedrooms on the lower ground floor two double / king size bedrooms and one twin room all with ensuites. The master bedroom was great had a huge bathroom and patio doors to the garden. My son stayed in the garden bedroom which is also ensuite an access to the house is by stairs up to the lounge balcony, the side door in the garden. Because we had good weather that bedroom gets very hot in the daytime as it has glass on two sides. The eldest grandson loved the games room where he could play on his own Xbox which he brought with his dad and uncle. We were very lucky with the weather so took the boys to fistral beach most days which is very close th the house. Now as a relatively good cook I found the kitchen stunning having everything you need. We ordered our shoppin to be delivered on the afternoon of our arrival which was put away, thank you. The view in the evening of groups Standing surf paddling was lovely. This has been one of my favourite holidays and the beautiful house made it all the more memorable. The owners communication was excellent and would not hesitate to stay here again. A big thanks. surf paddling

Stunning cottage, close to the beach, a perfect holiday home

5 of 5
I hired the cottage for my daughter & her partner for their honeymoon, their wedding was in Crantock. They loved it, it was beautiful inside, with a great outdoor seating area and a table tennis table in the garage for wet days. It is only a five minute walk to the beach, and the coastal footpath. It is furnished with a beautiful attention to detail, warm & cosy on those windy/wet Cornwall days with the log burner and great for relaxing with a large comfy sofa. They found it hard to drag themselves away. We had a slight problem before my daughter & her husband arrived which required speaking to the owner. Catherine was easily available on the phone, most understanding, helpful and generous. All in all a stunning cottage, beautiful position and lovely owners. Thank you Catherine and Will you made it a perfect honeymoon for Rose & Callum.
