Find sanctuary with Nethy Bridge holiday cottages during a relaxing Highlands break. Nethy Bridge is a small village on the River Nethy, named after the waterway and the Telford Bridge that spans it. Located in the idyllic Cairngorms National Park, the area offers plenty to see and do for the whole family. HomeAway holiday cottages in Nethy Bridge feature traditional exteriors and contemporary furnishings. There are accommodations that sleep up to 8 people comfortably, with most properties suitable for groups of 4 to 10. Most accommodations are family friendly, and can include cribs, cots or outdoor play sets. There are generous sunrooms, gardens and terraces galore, and internet and satellite TV for times when the weather keeps visitors indoors.

Things to do

-Traditions: The Abernethy Highland Games are held annually on the second Saturday of August. All ages will enjoy the spectacles of Track and Field, Heavy events – tests of strength and skill like Hammer Toss and Putting the Stone – as well as Highland Dancing competitions and others. There are also fairground rides, food stalls and shopping opportunities for local goods.

-Outdoor pursuits: The Cairngorms National Park offers hill walking, mountain biking and whitewater rafting. Trails and courses have differing grades and skill requirements so all visitors in Nethy Bridge holiday homes, from novices to experts, should find something to suit. All safety recommendations like informing others of chosen routes and carrying a map instead of relying solely on cell-phone GPS should be followed. Guided tours and easier walks are available for the less experienced.

-Golf: Tee off at the Abernethy Golf Club to experience the best of traditional Highland golf. The club is open all year and welcomes players of all skill levels.

-Family entertainment: The Cairngorm Mountain railway is the highest railway in the UK. It is a funicular that travels the northern slopes of Cairngorm on a track almost 6,500 feet long. At the top station, the elevation is over 3,500 feet and the views are spectacular. The mountain also offers bird watching, hiking, shopping and refreshments along with traditional snow sports like skiing.

-Sightseeing: Loch Ness is just 50 miles away via the A9. A great day trip destination, it's one of the most popular with visitors to Nethy Bridge holiday homes. There are boat trips on the Loch to search for legendary Nessie, but the area has much more to offer from adrenaline-inducing activities like windsurfing and paragliding, to more relaxed endeavours like shopping, bird watching or strolling through the numerous local art galleries and craft workshops.

Quiet & Cozy rural perfection!

5 of 5
From start to finish, we cannot rave enough about this lovely home. Jon was a delight to be in touch with as he was quick to respond to emails and was superb in answering questions. He and his wife were certainly kind when we had a delay in our arrival - and met us with a smile to show us around and explain the details of the house and electronics. **WiFi was fabulous! Upon our arrival, there was milk in the fridge, a loaf of bread and biscuits, as well as a stocked larder of staple items. Even a lovely bottle of red wine was there for us to enjoy. Very thoughtful :). We were lucky enough to be in Inverness during the Highland games, and I was worried about ticket availability. Jon called the council and assured me that there would be tickets available when we arrived later in the Summer - and he was absolutely right! I'm glad that he eased my mind and we did indeed have a great time at the games. We had a traveling party of 4 adults and we were so comfortable in the spacious bedrooms, 6 person dining room, and large comfortable sitting area. The beds were large, comfortable, and delighfully clean/fresh. *If there is one word to describe the home, it would be meticulous. Every detail is thought of and provided - even down to the peanuts to feed the squirrels outside :). There are walking trails that line the property (with great views), and cows/sheep to watch in the adjoining field. This was such a relaxing part of our journey, that we hated to leave. **Jon and Di were superb and gracious hosts. We will definitely recommend this lovely home to our friends and would absolutely stay here again if we are lucky enough to get back to the Highlands. Thank you for the hospitality!
