  • An amazing haven very close to a lovely beach

My 9 year old daughter and I were really looking forward to our short stay on the Norfolk coast, and Wow were we not disappointed. From the moment that we pulled up and realised quite how appropriate the name Beachside was, we couldn’t get much closer, it’s lovely being able to hear the waves from the property. Once inside we were really impressed with the homely feel and attention to detail, my daughter spending ages taking photos of the various decorations and lights that she liked. The welcome goodies and note that Liz left were a very nice touch and really appreciated. The property itself is a nice size and would comfortably accommodate 4 people, and that’s without the outside space. It’s has been decorated to a high standard, has absolutely everything that you could need, and was spotlessly clean. It was my first trip to this part of Norfolk and I shall definitely be back. Despite the weather, which was very changeable - and I guess not unexpected for the time of year - we managed to spend several hours walking along the lovely sandy beach, see circa 100 seals at Horsey (I gather from a local fisherman that you can also see them close to Beachside if you are lucky), visit the Horsey Windpump and nearby tea rooms, Happisburgh Lighthouse at various times of the day, as well as explore Bacton Woods and wander around North Walsham. Being a keen photographer these locations provided me with many opportunities, and I definitely wasn’t disappointed, the colourful sunrise on the beach only being matched by the sunset at the lighthouse. Waves crashing against the promenade at high tide during the storm were amazing to witness too. Before we’d even started packing to come home, my daughter asked when we’d be back, the simple answer being “soon” as I can’t wait to return to Beachside. Why would you want to go abroad to sit on a beach when we’ve some of the best in the world so close?
