  • Cosy, Relaxing, Beautiful

I was looking for somewhere quiet to focus and write by book and the Shippen was just perfect. The grounds are beautiful. I took Jon up on his offer to do a tour and learned so much (highly recommended). The cottage is very cosy and homely. The only noise around was the beautiful sound of birds. I was able to unwind and switch off from the hustle and bustle of London as well as being productive and getting a lot of work done. I'd highly recommend!

  • A great thrill

It was a great thrill to be the first guests to stay at what the owners affectionately call 'The old broom cupboard'. Situated in the peaceful grounds surrounding the owners home on the edge of Dartmoor National Park, with sweeping views across open countryside, a short drive from historic Tavistock and a stones throw from Sir Francis Drake's Buckland Abbey (NT). Tastefully furnished, decorated, spacious, and spotlessly clean, a lot of thought had been given in providing everything needed to make our stay very comfortable and enjoyable, including numerous personal touches. We were made to feel very welcome including a generous Welcome Pack, particularly some delicious homemade cake, marmalade and blackberry jam. The only downside was handing back the keys at the end of the week ! If you're considering spending some time in this beautiful corner of Devon, we would not hesitate in recommending 'Broom cottage'. Thank you Sylvia and Robert - we loved it.
