Lynton is a small town situated above a gorge overlooking the sea in North Devon. Most often it is known together with its twin town Lynmouth and the Lynton and Lynmouth railway connect them. Lynton is on the edge of Exmoor and was the setting for the book, Lorna Doone and the South West Coast Path and the Tarka Trail pass through it. St Mary's Church with its 13th century tower stands overlooking the sea and is open to the public daily.

Het oude landhuis ligt schitterend hoog op de klif, met een fantastisch uitzicht.

Wij hadden het appartement met balkonnetje geboekt voor een week in juni voor 3 volwassenen. Volgens de informatie en foto's op de site van owners direct had het appartement 2 slaapkamers. Helaas bleek bij aankomst dat er maar 1 slaapkamer was en in de woonkamer met open keuken was een bedbank. We kregen nog wel de keus uit het andere appartement (voor de rest zijn er een paar hotelkamers) maar dan had je eigenlijk alleen 2 slaapkamers, geen woonkamer, in een kast een ieniemienie keukenblokje en geen balkonnetje. Dat was geen optie voor ons. Dus we zijn gebleven in het appartement met balkonnetje, waar trouwens wel een hele mooie nieuwe badkamer in zat. Maar voor de rest is een verblijf in dit schitterende landhuis een unieke ervaring! Via een lang smal oprijlaantje kom je bij het huis. Als je beneden binnenkomt in het landhuis valt je mond open van verbazing en ga je meer dan honderd jaar terug in de tijd. Via een schitterende grote trap ga je naar de eerste etage met een mooie galerij. Aan het eind van een gangetje ligt het appartement. De winkels zijn lopend te bereiken. Je moet wel goed ter been zijn want het is veel klimmen en klauteren maar de wegen/wegen zijn goed. Wel supergoed voor je conditie. Er is zowiezo genoeg te doen en te zien in de omgeving. Een aanrader als je met z'n tweeën een bijzonder appartement zoekt.
