Make A Holiday Rental Cottage in Leyburn, United Kingdom, Your Home Away From Home

Surrounded by stunning countryside, the market town of Leyburn acts as one of the gateways into the Yorkshire Dales National Park in the UK. Boasting an array of restaurants, pubs, cafés and independent shops, there is also a wide range of accommodation on offer for people who would like to stay in the town. A holiday rental cottage in Leyburn appeals to those that want to escape the stress of daily life, whilst soaking up the rural atmosphere. The homely feel that the accommodation brings soon helps people to relax and unwind, and the fully fitted and equipped kitchen means that it is not necessary to eat out for every meal.

Things to Do on Holiday in Leyburn, United Kingdom

The Yorkshire Dales are the main reason behind choosing a holiday in Leyburn, and they are best explored and enjoyed on foot. Numerous walking trails both official and unofficial criss-cross the area, and these can either be done as loops from the town, or done as something called “Just the Ticket” walks, which involve using buses and the Wensleydale Railway. Other activities that it is possible to do during a stay at a holiday rental cottage in Leyburn include tennis, cycling and golf.

Places to Visit on Holiday in Leyburn, United Kingdom

Part of the joy of a holiday in Leyburn is getting to see some of the local attractions. The town itself has a weekly market on a Friday, and a farmers’ market every two weeks which are both well worth visiting. Further afield, apart from the Yorkshire Dales, which have already been mentioned, the North York Moors National Park and the Lake District are also areas of outstanding natural beauty. For an insight into the history of the area, a visit to the city of York should be taken. The City Walls and York Minster are both incredible places to visit, and walking through the medieval streets of the Shambles is highly recommended.

Weather in Leyburn, United Kingdom

As with most areas within the United Kingdom, Leyburn has a temperate climate, however, there are wide variations. For example, whilst the east of the county receives below average rainfall for the UK, the upper Dales are actually amongst the wettest! Anyone who is going for long walks or hikes should be prepared for the weather to change at short notice, even on what appears to be a hot, sunny day. The summer months are the warmest, though, and July and August see average daily high temperatures of 21 degrees Celsius. The winter months of December and January are the coldest, with average lows of 1 degree. In terms of rain, anywhere between 40 and 80mm per month can be expected.

Travel to Leyburn, United Kingdom

As the UK is quite a compact country, it is easier to drive everywhere than it is to fly. Travel times from London by car are under 4 hours in duration, and main motorway routes can be taken for most of the way. The use of a car is essential during a holiday in Leyburn in order to be able to reach other protected park areas as well as York city.

Historic Cottage With Everything You Need

5 of 5
My wife and I had a wonderful time at Woodmanray. Everything is as per the photos and description, it is a wonderfully restored former Methodist chapel with every comfort. It would appear from reading the guestbook that the owner has followed up on any suggestions made by guests, the latest being the addition of wifi. This is quite useful and solves the problem of lack of cell (mobile) call and data coverage - the signal is weak on the property and cannot penetrate stone walls. But then again, you should really be outside on a hike anyways! We would have no hesitation returning to this rural gem.

Cosy and comfortable

A beautiful cottage set in a lovely village. Close to one of best tea rooms we've come across. Beautiful view from end of lane to be enjoyed on a stroll after tea. Lovely walks on your doorstep. Aga stove is just perfect to have food slowly cooked while you enjoy a wine in the afternoon sun in the cute garden. Clean place, soft bed linnen. Highly recommended.
