Lee is a picturesque village and a bay two miles from Ilfracombe. Devon countryside borders three sides and the Bristol Channel the fourth. The village is situated in a heavily wooded deep combe, a naturally sheltered haven often referred to as Fuchsia Valley. The village is built around St Matthews Church and opposite is Pixie meadow and the village hall.

Places to holiday in Lee, Devon

Although Lee is hidden within rolling hills and valleys and secluded, it is unbelievably close to all the local amenities in North Devon, which makes it a popular tourist destination. The main hotel closed sometime ago mainly due to popularity self-catering cottages and accommodation. Most of the property in Lee and Lincombe are cottages, some modern in construction and also traditional thatched cottages.

Holiday cottages are perfect for family holidays as have much more space than caravans or hotels and many have gardens. From coastal cottages in Lee it is a short walk to the Fuchsia Tea Garden and the local pub, the Grampus. From here a narrow path takes you to a small bridge and goes on through a meadow to the bay. The Bull Point Light house is a mile from Lee and Mortehoe and Woolacombe Golf Club is only two miles away.

Devon cottages are perfect for exploring all the bays and coves in the area including Croyde, Baggy Point, Morte Bay, Woolacombe, Morte Point, Rockham and Ilfracombe tunnel beaches, as well as the town of Mullacott Cross. Things to do in Lee

Lee is great for Windsurfing, Sailing, Surfing or Fishing. The Gate House Garden is a two-acre organic garden a short stroll from the bay or your holiday cottage. The National Trust owns the five miles of coastline as far as Croyde and the Grampus Inn has a printed version of the five walks around the area. There are numerous local events in the hall and meadow throughout the year including a spring Fayre, bingo, hog roasts, live bands, musical concerts and piano recitals, games championships, pancake races and much more.

Ilfracombe Museum is next to the Landmark Theatre in Runnymede Gardens on the seafront. It has eight different areas to explore from bats to Buddha's. Chambercombe Manor is a unique and fascinating property known for its paranormal phenomena and it is steeped in mystery and unrivalled history dating back to the times of the Saxons.

Watermouth Castle is a family theme park with entertainments and attractions for all ages and Combe Martin Wildlife and Dinosaur Park is the best wildlife park in the country, here you can get closer to the wildlife and swim with the sea lions. Nine miles from the country cottages of Lee is the National Trust property of Arlington Court, an intriguing house nestled in a wooded valley on the edge of Exmoor and housing a large collection of horse drawn carriages. Other attractions include Watersmeet, Marwood Hill Gardens, and Saint Anne's Chapel Heritage Centre in Barnstable, Tapeley Park and the Burton Art Gallery in Bideford.

A well kept house with spacious gardens suitable for young children and dogs. Easy access to friendly village with well stocked shop an excellent pub, coves, coastal walks, Combe Martin harbour with its exceptional rock pools, Woolacombe Sands ("best beach in UK"), Woody Bay steam train and Exmoor.
