Peaceful and cozy getaway location

5 of 5
The property is cute and homely. The location is perfect as a base for a variety of nearby things to do (Mersea Island, Clacton, Beth Chatto gardens, local walking) and Humperdink is great for just relaxing. We had a lovely bank holiday weekend here.

Amazing location

4 of 5
We had a great 4 night stay over May half term, with beautiful weather, whilst the rest of the UK seemed to be enduring one thunderstorm after another. The house is in a fabulous location if you want complete isolation and the expansive views over the surrounding fields are very peaceful. It was great chilling out in the main room upstairs with a glass of wine after a long day watching the sun setting. The sea is quite a distance away, so the main view is of farmland rather than sea, but beautiful nevertheless. We did the half hour or so (with a 4 and 6 year old) walk to the beach a couple of times and it was worth it for the deserted beach stretching on for miles. Apparently this is quicker over the mud flats but we didn’t risk that. The other houses in the hamlet are interesting, some more “renovated” than others, including one which one a prize for architecture. The amenities at the house are quite basic, but this is all clear on the blurb, so if you’re happy with no dishwasher/washing machine and bringing your own towels you should be fine. The main bedroom has a blind which is not remotely blackout and the mattress is not great quality so if you’re fussy about sleep it may not be for you. We had a lovely time, and Julia was very helpful lending us an Ordnance Survey of the area.
