Corine is charming and very helpful. The place is set in lovely countryside. If it were possible we’d return for a longer stay. Thank you Corine

  • Good house in a well-placed, pretty location

The house is in a peaceful location with the Lake District to one side of you and the Yorkshire Dales to the other side. This makes both the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales easy to reach. The house itself is nice and large with a lovely, sociable, well-equipped kitchen/dining/lounge area downstairs (where we spent most of our time when we were inside, quite often watching sheep). The upstairs bedroom is particularly large and it was a bit of a treat to have all that space. The village of Greystoke is quiet, friendly and very pretty and has a good children's playground/park just a 5 minute walk away. The outdoor swimming pool is right next to the park and was great fun, especially since we had a very hot week of weather. There's loads to do within a short drive: mountains such as Blencathra, and lakes such as Ullswater with its boat trips, many walks (eg Aira Falls and surrounding area) plus swimming opportunities when it's particularly hot; there are also many archaeological things within easy reach including Castlerigg stone circle (wonderful 360 degree view of the surrounding mountains), Long Meg and Her Daughters, Brougham Castle and Mayburgh Henge (Penrith). We had to go to Keswick one day and it was boiling hot and packed with irritable people; we were very pleased to get back to our lovely area of tranquility!
