This is a beautiful spacious property, full of character and very well equipped. We spent a lovely family week here, enjoying the nearby beaches and surrounding countryside. Plenty to do for all ages.

  • Perfect beach hideaway!

Cosy cottage, a few minutes walk from two lovely beaches. The dining kitchen is spacious and really well equipped - with clean linens and pots/pans etc. I took a slow cooker which was great to return home to after a good walk. The lounge is perfect for cosy evenings chatting, reading or watching TV or a film. The shower room is nice and bright and very modern. The bed in the main bedroom is super comfy and the whole village is so peaceful at night that a good night's sleep is guaranteed. Only visited the pub once, but the landlord and other customers were lovely and friendly - and the dog was welcome too :) The highlight of the trip and the massive selling point of this cottage is the proximity to the beaches in Garlieston - two minutes walk! Rigg Bay is a lovely walk, although the best route was up through the Galloway House gardens as the coastal path was very muddy and the forest nearby was also worth a visit. I travelled alone and brought my dog - the secure yard was a great bonus! I don't want to recommend this cottage - because I want it to be available whenever I get chance to return - but in the interests of fairness, I have to give it a 5/5 as the owners have obviously put a lot of thought and effort into making a little sanctuary for those of us not lucky enough to live so close to such a pretty place.
