We had a few days here with two friends and we had a lovely time. Winnie cottage was clean, warm and comfortable. The wood burning stove was easy to light and very atmospheric. The hot tub was fab and had great views. The cottage is well equipped with entertainment. Huge tv's in every room, even the hot tub. Loads of cd's and films. cupboards full of games and books etc. It was very quiet and peacefull and we were really able to relax. The only thing that may be difficult for some is the kitchen is down stairs via a spiral staircase. My husband is 76 and he managed it but had to really take his time and be very careful. I would imagine it is a fabulous holiday home in the warmer weather as there is a large enclosed garden with splendid views and loads of outside seating with firepits and barbecue. There is also a sauna but we just ran out of time! To top it all, the welcome pack was stuffed full of goodies and was the best we have ever received and we have taken lots of cottage holidays in this country. Well done Mark and Michelle.
This was our third visit - so you could conclude we like it; in fact we love the homely feel of the cottage, its quiet location and the horses grazing outside the window. We just wish we lived a little closer! The location is perfect for visiting the area - you can get to Whitley Bay by bus and Metro in just 90 minutes; Hexham Abbey and Housesteds (Roman Fort) are a short and scenic drive away - and there's fascinating history at Beamish, Bamburgh Castle (fabulous décor and artefacts) and Holy Island too. And there's an excellent restaurant (Santonio's) just a short walk along the road.
The whole experience is a real tonic......and seems to take years off our faces every time we stay.
