North Devon – Hartland - Experience "The Hartland Peninsula"

Unspoilt coastline... Hidden beaches... Awesome waterfalls... Wooded valleys... Nature reserves... Outstanding countryside... Uninterrupted cliff tops... Dramatic scenery... Area of outstanding natural beauty...

Traversed by the breathtaking South West Coastal Path the Hartland Peninsula is a constant source of inspiration, a place to find peace and tranquillity yet close to many popular destinations.

Hartland village was one of the largest royal manors in the Saxon time of King Alfred.

Today the village still preserves an individual character, encouraged by an active year long community which historically lives off the land and the sea. Nowadays it is a thriving community with artists and crafts people.

Close by, Hartland Quay; one of the most spectacular coastal scenery and geology in North West Europe, and of course, Hartland Point; one of the boldest headlands on the English Coast standing 350 feet above the sea!

The famous “Cathedral of North Devon” St Nectan’s church also lies on the peninsula.

For those of you who wish to venture a little further afield, the renowned Village of Clovelly is worth exploration. Here fascinating history, wonderful walks, traditional crafts and of course the famous Clovelly donkeys await you...

Nature lovers will be inspired by “ Beautiful Lundy Island” a precious jewel lying 12 miles off shore where the Atlantic Ocean meets the Bristol Channel with nothing between it and America.

Around the South West coastline there are numerous opportunities for surfing, sailing, cycling, swimming and for those memorable walks...

North Devon’s lush pastures and rugged coastlines produce some of the tastiest food and drink, their magnificent flavours crafted by a gentle climate and artisan skills ensure a “gastronomic delight”

The Hartland Peninsula is well known for its unspoilt beauty and tranquillity. Exploring this part of the British Isles offers the ideal way to appreciate it, giving the opportunity to get into the heart of the landscape and really feel part of the environment...

It is really a place like no other! Wish you were here... Written by Guy Hammond – Owner of Property 71906 in Hartland, North Devon

We went with friends and our dog. It was plenty bigger enough for us all. Very well equipped kitchen and sunny conservatory, we spent a lot of time in there. Nice and cosy living room with log burner going. It was nice to have two bathrooms. Plenty of hot water and under floor heating which kept the place toasty. Woods on your doorstep, take your wellies as it can be muddy. Will look lovely in spring. Enjoyed watching the birds feeding from the kitchen window. The owners were very helpful, but kept away. But we knew they were close at hand should we need them. We had a lovely lemon cake provided on arrival, very nice. The kitchen came with all mod cons, including a range which is on all the time, so it keeps the kitchen warm.

The property is well equipped (probably the best equipped we have stayed at). It was spotlessly clean with plenty of towels. Bread, eggs, milk & tea were provided as a welcome gift which we thought was a nice gesture. It is ideally located to walk this beautiful part of North Devon. We walked to Hartland Quay for lunch about 3miles and came back using the footpaths across the countryside. We used the O/S maps of the area that were also provided. The Kings Arms pub right opposite was a great place to go for a drink and fantastic fish & chips. The owners representative introduced herself to us to make sure all our needs were catered for, which was very good. The week went to quickly which meant we really enjoyed our stay.
