Enveloped by the beauty of the South Hams, Halwell is an idyllic village offering the peace and tranquillity holidaymakers seek when they head to sunny Devon. As a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Halwell and neighbouring Morleigh sit at the centre of a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. Tea rooms are another great place to sample the food made from local ingredients, including Devonshire’s famous clotted cream.

-Culture: There are many places of cultural interest in the vicinity of Halwell. Starting in Halwell itself, the local village church and churchyard are a pleasure to visit and appear as if they have been frozen in time. A little further up the road in Totnes, Totnes castle is a must-visit for any history buff. It is one of the best representations of a Norman motte-and-bailey castle and still stands proudly over the town.

-Beaches: Though Halwell is located inland, it still offers relatively easy access to the beaches of the South Hams. The seaside town of Salcombe and its beautiful beach are about a 30-minute drive away. Summer visitors keen to enjoy the beach may want to consider a holiday cottage in Salcombe to be closer to the water.

Halwell can be enjoyed year-round; some families even choose to rent a Halwell holiday cottage for the winter festive season. Temperatures in the South Hams are mild, peaking at 20°C in July and August, and dropping to a low of 5°C in the winter. Rain is heavier in the winter than in the summer, but falls steadily throughout the year.

Travel to Halwell

Given its small size, Halwell is best reached by car. The village is located right along the A381, about 30 miles south of Exeter. From London, the drive to Halwell takes just under four hours. The closest rail station to Halwell is in Totnes.

Perfect beach holiday flat with fantastic views and short distance walks

We arrived finding a cosy and stylish flat overlooking the sea and Goodrington gardens. we were surprised finding a Kind "welcome basket" with useful Content as well as the fridge which was filled with milk, orange jus and bread. thank you! Rooms very clean, good beds, absolutely nice bathrooms and well fitted kitchen. We felt at home from the first Moment on. Of course we can highly recommend the place as an ideal Holiday flat for a couple or a Family!

Cosy well appointed studio, comfy bed.

Studio itself was very clean , nice bathroom with shower over bath .Great location easy to explore shops etc. Entrance to flats needs sprucing up .
