Make a holiday apartment in Goonhavern your home away from home

Goonhavern is a small village located just two miles east of Perranporth in North Cornwall. Visitors staying in a holiday apartment in Goonhavern enjoy everything the nearby seaside resort has to offer. HomeAway has an impressive selection of Goonhaven holiday apartments which generally sleep between four and six people, making them best suited to groups or families. In fact, many are family friendly as they feature children’s playgrounds nearby, and offer highchairs and stair gates upon request.

But best of all, these holiday homes are a bargain too. On average they are priced at around a third of the cost of Falmouth rentals, and are comparable in price to rentals in Flushing, both on the South Cornwall coast. There are pet friendly units available, as well as those with shared and private gardens, or onsite parking. Most holiday homes in Goonhavern are just a five-minute walk from the local pub and village shopping. Most units will also include linen and towels, although some will request visitors bring their own beach towels.

Things to do

-Watersports: Grab a board and hit the waves! Experienced riders will find fun waves at nearby Perranporth beach, and there are several surf schools available for everyone from experienced surfers to novices. In addition to surfing, the beaches around Goonhavern are ideal for kite surfing. Mobius Kite School offers lessons across several beaches in the area.

-Outdoor activities: With such great weather, it’s no wonder that Goonhavern attracts so many outdoor lovers. Beautiful trails along the coast and into the Cornish countryside entice recreational walkers, cyclists, and horse riders. Riding stables and bicycle rentals are readily available across the region.

-Food and drink: No trip to Goonhavern would be complete without a stop by the Watering Hole, the UK's only sand-surrounded pub! Enjoy year-round food and drink in the warm and friendly atmosphere of this surf-themed bar. Located directly on Perranporth beach, this kick-back spot is only about three miles from holiday cottages in Goonhavern.

-Family attractions: Holywell Bay Fun Park is full of family activities from putt-putt golf, orbiting hovercraft, go-karts, an arcade, maze area, blaster boats and much more! With free entry and free parking, there’s no reason not to pack up the family and make a whole day of this one-stop entertainment centre. The park is just five miles outside of Goonhavern and is too good to pass up. HomeAway lists plenty of other holiday homes in North Cornwall for visitors to take advantage of all these attractions.

Weather in Goonhavern

Goonhavern enjoys the same oceanic climate as nearby Perranporth. July and August are the warmest months, with average temperatures at 16.5°C but often much hotter. This is also the driest time of the year with only eight days of rain per month. December and January are the coldest and wettest months to visit, with temperatures falling to 3°C, and over half the days scheduled to be wet!

Travel to Goonhavern

Goonhavern holiday cottages are a tantalising 282 miles from London. Take the M4 and M5 and A30 west for a pleasant four-hour journey by car. From the north, the village is only 164 miles from Bristol. Those who would rather fly will find air service to and from nearby Exeter International. Just 84 miles to the east, coming from the airport via the A30 takes travellers past Dartmoor National Park.

Great getaway cottage in a beautiful part of Cornwall

5 of 5
Lovely cottage in the Cornish countryside that lets you feel like you're getting away from it all but with good access to the key sites of Cornwall. Good original cottage features and garden out the back to get the last of the day's sun.

Luxurious property in peaceful location

5 of 5
The Mill is exactly as portrayed on the Web Site. It is beautifully presented and everything is of a high quality inside. The owners are there if you need them but do not intrude, you feel welcome to share the lovely site. It is rather remote and access is via a long farm lane but that added to the charm for us. Despite its seclusion It was very easy to get to north and south towns and beaches. A perfect self-catering getaway with the feel of a boutique hotel, we would love to come again. Highly recommended.
