  • A peaceful, secluded retreat - our 5th stay
    4 of 5

This was our 5th stay at Hafod, stretching over 8 years. First things first - the cottage is hidden away in 30 acres of private woodland in the foothills of Snowdonia. If you are expecting all mod cons, needing wi-fi, TV etc, this probably isn't for you. If you are after a secluded, peaceful retreat with all the basics covered, I cannot recommend it enough. The drive up the the cottage is a little intense, but definitely fun. The cottage itself is full of quaint character, sleeping 5 comfortably, run mostly off solar & wind power. If the weather is bad, you can huddle in front of the multifuel stove. If the weather is good, there are many walks right from the back door through the woodland with all it's teeming life. There is also a lovely pub just down the road, if you can catch the Sunday carvery, you will not be disappointed. Four stars instead of five, because there are probably some internal improvements that could be made - nothing drastic, maybe some newer crockery, more toilet roll... All in all, we love the place. Our teenage kids have virtually grown up there over the years and still want to return. Take a step away from the rat race & breathe...

We had a fantastic week with perfect weather. The property was very clean and had everything you needed for your stay. So much to see and do in the area, spoilt for choice.
