Make a holiday cottage in Falmouth your home away from home

Anyone who'd like to experience a relaxing seaside retreat should consider booking a holiday rental in Falmouth. This port city near the tail end of Britain is famous for its harbour, one of the world’s deepest, from which splendid views over the bay can be enjoyed. It is also a great place to get out and be one with nature through hikes and other outdoor activities. HomeAway assures holidaymakers to this part of Cornwall luxurious housing for the duration of their stay, offering them cottages and apartments among other accommodation options. The ultra-modern holiday cottages in Falmouth are a popular choice, with their spacious interiors and proximity to the quay. Other cottages overlook the sea and are equipped with everything one needs from microwaves and washing machines to Wi-Fi.

Things to do

-Outdoor fun: The rich greenery of Falmouth’s landscapes provides excellent grounds for a wide range of outdoor activities, providing the ultimate treat for adrenaline junkies. They can fly over the pine forests on zip wires or take on the rocks with a stint of abseiling or rock climbing. Watersports such as canoeing and kayaking are also available and there are activities tailor-made for youngsters. Anglers looking for a place to fish will find few places better than Falmouth, and this locale also lays claim to fabulous diving spots. Avid hikers can sign up for the Autumn Hiking Festival for the experience of a lifetime, whilst fans of two wheels will find many excellent cycling trails.

-Golf: Visitors can perfect their swing while on holiday as they take advantage of the fabulous courses in Falmouth. One of these is the Budock Vean Golf Course, a 9-hole fairway which provides beginners with quite a challenge.

-Beaches: Holidaymakers staying in Falmouth holiday homes will be able to take blissful promenades at Swanpool Beach. Treating themselves to some of the tastiest ice-cream in the UK, they'll find that the beach is quiet, clean and commands incredible views. Whatever the weather looks like, one will always find people out and about on the sandy shores.

-Gardens: Among the many places where visitors can walk amid rustling vegetation and derive the tranquillity of nature is the 15-acre Penjerrick Garden. As they amble through clusters of bamboos, tree ferns and magnolias, holidaymakers will feel refreshed. Enys Garden, however, is one of the oldest gardens in Cornwall – its colours are so rich and vibrant, especially in spring, created by ubiquitous bluebells and other diverse plant species.

-Historic sites: A visit to Falmouth would be incomplete without a tour of Pendennis Castle. This sturdy-looking stone fort boasting towers and lush lawns occupies a significant place in history as one of Henry VIII’s coastal fortresses. It was also used in World War II as a secret military base and the command centre for Cornwall. For more on Cornish history, Falmouth holiday home residents can pop into the nearby National Maritime Museum.

Great location

4 of 5
The flat was very well located - easy walking distance to town and the view was lovely. Good facilities with a nice welcome pack with tea and coffee provided. The negatives were that we had thought the patio would be out the back and it is basically the paved area at the front of the flat which has a lovely view but is on a fairly busy road. The other negative was that there was a slight smell of damp in the bedroom at the rear of the property. Overall though it was a lovely flat and the owner was very easy to contact.
