A wonderful house in a superb position

      5 of 5
Nothing was too much trouble to owner Heather to make our stay both comfortable and interesting. A great house with a history set in some of the country's most superb scenery. Something to suit people of all ages and this family hopes to return.

Enchanting thatched cottage in a beautiful location, in superb condition

      5 of 5
The cottage was enchanting from the beginning, walking into it and finding each room even more enticing than the last. It was quirky, intriguing, superby furnished, easily large enough for a party of 10, very private and clearly haunted by a friendly and welcoming ghost. The gardens are immaculate and the gardening staff - who occasionally popped by discretely to attend to the flowers - were friendly and professional. It has plenty of lawns, with both flat areas and hillside, with a superb sunny patio adjacent the house. The river is about 20m away and gives a pleasant background sound that further adds to the feeling of peaceful seclusion. The bathrooms were in excellent condition, and I was amazed with such an old property that everything seemed in perfect order. We were lucky to have a good amateur pianist with us, and the baby grand piano led to some memorable sing songs (not something we are given to normally!) The nearby pub (about 8 mins walk) has a superb range of meals and good beers, with very friendly staff. The cottage is adjacent various fields and tracks, although it takes about 30 mins to walk (mainly uphill) to the open moor from the cottage - so we tended to drive the first part, then park at the edge of the moor. Needless to say, the surrounding moorland is exquisite.

      Wonderful find

      5 of 5
Wow! Such an amazing little find. The accomadation has been fantastic, better than any other self catering we have stayed in. The bed is on a par with the most luxurious hotels in the world and the little touches (like the wine on arrival) make this a place not to miss. I kept having to reassure my husband that I was honest about the price that we paid. We came for 3 nights with 4 year old twins and I can confirm that this is a very child friendly place, we moved the breakables and let the kids roam free without a concern for them finding something they shouldn't. The kitchen is fully stocked and even included sandwich boxes. Local to some really good attractions, the kids loved Pennywell Farn and Paignton Zoo. Once you have driven here for the first time you won't get lost coming back. I honestly can not think of any feedback apart from keep up the great work! Five stars doesn't seem enough. Thank you for everything. We will be back
