Chipping Campden is a beautifully preserved town in the Cotswolds. Often referred to as the “jewel in the crown” of the area, this historic market town offers scenery, shopping, gardens and festivals to delight any visitor; it even holds its own Olympic games every summer, and has done so since 1612! HomeAway holiday cottages in Chipping Campden offer a comfortable base from which to explore this town and its lovely architecture, which dates back to the 14th century. As a prominent wool-trading centre during the Middle Ages, many of its attractions revolve around these unique, honey-coloured limestone buildings, which include holiday cottages in Chipping Campden. Things to do

-Architecture: Market Hall was built in 1627, and this iconic structure was once used to shelter traders as they sold butter, cheese and poultry.  See its magnificent stone arches, and glimpse the High Street from inside. One of the most beautiful in the Cotswolds, the High Street is long and terraced, and fronts many examples of stunning Cotswold stone architecture. Take a winding walk and explore its trove of intriguing shops.

-Churches: St. James Church is a highly visible landmark, and a fantastic example of a perpendicular wool church. A gothic-style building incorporating complementary horizontal and vertical elements, it was built with profits from the wool trade. This popular attraction boasts 15th-century vestments and altar frontals from the 1500s. More than just a historic piece of eye candy, however, St. James is also a living church with Sunday and special services throughout the year.

-Gardens: Earnest Wilson Memorial Garden is free and open to the public. This small enclosed space is one of several gardens to visit in the area. It offers around 1,200 different plants, and is named after a Chipping Campden native from the late 19th century, who brought back many of the featured species from several plant-hunting trips to the Far East.

-Events: The Cotswold Olympics Games are an annual sporting event that has taken place every summer since 1612, and its fun still draws visitors to Chipping Campden holiday cottages every year. In addition to running and jumping, events throughout the years have included things from fighting with swords and cudgels and coursing with hounds, to shin-kicking and motorcycle scrambles.

                                      delightful cottage

                                      5 of 5
We booked this property late on the Friday evening and were delighted with the service we received from the manager and owner, enabling us to take the cottage from the Monday. The information we received was accurate and we were able to find the cottage easily. The cottage was charming and spotlessly clean on our arrival, and the tea, coffeee, milk biscuits etc were very welcome. The bed was King size and very comfortable. We loved the cottage, particularly in the evenings when we lit the wood burner. It took us a while one evening to get the oven working and the user guide didn't seem to be there but we got it working eventually so there was no problem. Personally we had no mobile signal, I'm sure other providers would have been okay and there was excellent wi-fi so again not an issue.. We only ate out one night at the King's Arms in Mickleton. Highly recommended, good food and friendly service. We would definitely recommend the cottage and in all probability will use it againn ourselves.

                                      Quaint, cosy chocolate box cottage

                                      5 of 5
My husband and I stayed here with our two medium dogs. The cottage was cosy and quaint. We had everything we needed for our week stay. The owner Rosie has thought of everything to make the most of the cottage and the location. The location of the cottage is excellent with local amenities and walks of the surrounding country side from the doorstep. We did not use our car at all during our stay. Would highly recommend the cottage but with caution as would definitely return next year!
