Delight in traditional seaside charms with holiday cottages in Bridlington

Bridlington is a small town on the East Yorkshire Coast. Often affectionately known as Brid, the town has become popular over the last few decades as a tourist destination, and many local businesses are now dedicated to the influx of visitors throughout the year. The town is characterised by its large sandy beach and has a marina where a small number of commercial fishing boats still operate to bring in the daily catch of the famed Bridlington shellfish. There are many activities in Bridlington and the surrounding areas which make it the ideal destination for holiday makers.

HomeAway has a selection of holiday cottages in Bridlington available for long and short breaks. The diverse architecture in Bridlington gives visitors the opportunity to select from quaint cottages and modern designs, whilst all are well-equipped and welcoming. Kitchens feature modern appliances such as dishwashers and laundry facilities whilst wi-fi services are also on offer in some of the cottages. Children and dogs are welcomed in many, and gardens and parking are also in plentiful supply.

Bridlington, with its seaside charms and old-world appearance is a favourite for many families, and sees them returning time and time again. However, away from Brid, there is a wealth of choice for families and larger groups alike. Holiday apartments in York are the ideal destination for discovering the unique architecture and warm welcome of the ancient walled city, whilst holiday cottages in the Peak District make a great base for a walking holiday among the delightful Country Park and the many unique villages it plays host to.

Things to do

Bridlington Beach: The North Beach, pier and promenade of Bridlington are truly striking and are a favourite among new and returning guests. Whilst the beach offers miles of golden sands, a lifeguard and restricted areas for dogs, the promenade has a collection of shops, cafes and fairground rides which make the entire experience one to be remembered. The beach is the recipient of a Quality Coast Award and is a favourite for families, fishermen and windsurfers.

Bempton Cliffs: The RSPB reserve, which is just a short drive away from Bridlington holiday cottages, provides not only one of the finest viewing points along the Yorkshire Coastline but is also home to a huge variety of birds, including gannets, puffins, razorbills, guillemots, kittiwakes and fulmar. The reserve is open daily and has a guest and information centre.

Bridlington Old Town: One of the often missed gems of Brid, the old town is a collection of well preserved Georgian buildings, quirky and traditional shops and warm welcomes. The Old Town has played host to a variety of festivals and re-enactments and has been featured on BBC’s Antique’s Roadshow.

Flamborough: The 60 feet high cliffs which shape nearby Flamborough are among the most iconic in the area. Whilst they offer a clear view into the North Sea, including the rocks which have proven to be the downfall of many boats in the past, there are caves to be explored and nature to be enjoyed. The cliffs are also home to the famed Flamborough Lighthouse which has stood since 1806.

Nearby: Although holiday cottages in Bridlington offer many charms within the town centre, they are also ideally situated to allow access to a host of nearby towns and cities, including Scarborough, Whitby, Filey, York and Leeds.

Weather

Bridlington enjoys a mild, yet changeable climate with July and August being the warmest months. During the summer, temperatures often rise to 19⁰C whilst January and February are the coldest months and experience low temperatures of 0.2⁰C. During any one month, up to ten days of rainfall might be expected and during the average year, 620mm of rain typically falls.

Travel

Travelling to holiday cottages in Bridlington is relatively simple and straightforward making it an ideal holiday hotspot. The main road into town from inland Yorkshire is the A614, whilst the A64 provides a direct route into town from nearby York. There is also a coastal road, the A171, which runs through Robin Hood’s Bay. The town has its own award winning railway station from which connections are frequent and there are numerous bus services and coach tours to and from the town centre.

Lovely,cosy cottage

5 of 5
We needed somewhere fairly central for our stay as my father likes to walk, but unfortunately his enthusiasm isn't always matched by his ability! The location was perfect for us and surprisingly quiet, I really expected more traffic noise (though we were out of season). The cottage is a real home from home, they provide everything you might need (even a tea strainer!). Will happily stay here again if we return to Bridlington.

Well equipped, clean, homely house really close to the beach and facilities. There was a group of 11 of us with young children and we had an amazing fun time.
