Make a holiday rental in Bath your home away from home

Easily one of the most beautiful towns in the whole of the UK, Bath is a very popular holiday destination for couples, families, and groups alike. The spa town on the River Avon is famous for its Georgian architecture and is full of fascinating historic sites, museums, and plenty of natural attractions. As alternatives to holiday homes in Bristol, yet still only 15 miles from the south-west’s busiest city, Bath is easy to reach and has lots to offer.

HomeAway has a wonderful selection of holiday apartments in Bath. Rentals start at under £300 per week and mostly range between one to three bedrooms. Some Bath holiday cottages are located right in the centre of town, close to popular attractions. Others are situated in more rural settings and are perfect for those wanting to explore the great outdoors. All holiday rentals offered by HomeAway are fully furnished to a high standard, and many also come with amenities such as access to tennis courts, BBQ equipment, and the opportunity to include the family pet in the travel party.

Things to do

-Historic sites: Bath Abbey is one of the most prominent buildings in Bath, and – with its Gothic revival facade – strikes a contrast between the rest of the architecture in town. Right next to the abbey are beautifully preserved Roman Baths. The popular tourist attraction is divided into four separate areas: the Sacred Spring, Roman Temple, Roman Bath House and a museum. Beyond that holidaymakers can take a stroll over to the Royal Crescent to see one of the best examples of Georgian architecture in the UK.

-Family attractions: Royal Victoria Park, which is within easy reach of the majority of Bath holiday rentals, is an excellent place to take children. The park is free to enter and offers plenty of play equipment as well as a skate park. Another fun attraction in the area is Bath City Farm. Kids can interact with farm animals, play, and take part in a variety of community events here.

-Outdoor activities: Bath is a popular take-off point for hot air balloon rides. Visitors can enjoy sunrise and sunset rides over the city. Themed rides with champagne are widely available and make for the perfect romantic gift. On the more extreme end of the spectrum, the 450-foot Cheddar Gorge is located a short drive from Bath, near the historic town of Axbridge. A network of caves can be found inside the gorge and tours are available. In addition to caving, visitors can also try rock climbing. Outdoors lovers and cavers might prefer holiday homes in Axbridge, if their main objective is extreme sports!

-Food and drink: Whether it’s afternoon tea or lunch in a gastro pub, visitors will find all kinds of dining options in Bath. The most famous restaurant in town is The Pump Room, which serves modern British fare as well as afternoon tea. For fine dining, holidaymakers can visit any one of three Michelin-starred restaurants in town. A weekly farmers' market held on Saturday mornings is a great place to sample fresh food made with local ingredients.

Weather in Bath

The most popular time to visit Bath is from May to October, when high temperatures exceed 15°C on average. With an average daily high of 22°C, July and August are the warmest months of the year. In the winter the weather cools down to 8°C in the day and 4°C at night. Rain is pretty common throughout the year, but more prevalent from October to January.

Travel to Bath

Bath enjoys convenient travel connections. Holidaymakers without a vehicle can take a train to Bath Spa station, located at the centre of town. Another option would be to fly into Bristol Airport, hire a car, and make the 20-mile drive to Bath. Drivers can take the M4 to the A46 to reach a holiday apartment in Bath.

Lovely mews house in Bath

5 of 5
My wife and I stayed here for 10 days in July. This compact mews house is ideal for a couple or three people, and comes with its own off street parking space, which is very useful. The house has all amenities and was clean and as expected from the photos and descriptions. It is a short walk from the Royal Crescent, parks and everywhere is within walking distance, there is even a gastropub at the end of the street. We were met on arrival by one of the friendly Bath Rentals team, and the team were flexible with our early arrival time- this was much appreciated. It was an ideal base for a working holiday in Bath. We will be back! Thanks to Alexa and her team for providing high quality accommodation in Bath.
