Auchterarder holiday apartments are the touchstone of a relaxing getaway. This historic town is known as the golf capital of Perthshire, and boasts some impressive greens to test the skill of any player. Shopping, sports and history abound in this former “town of 100 drawbridges” and all can be experienced with a stay in an Auchterarder holiday apartment. With accommodations available for groups of 2 to 20, there is room for everyone and their gear. There are modern apartments and holiday cottages which feature exposed beams, while other homes boast swimming pools and hot tubs for the perfect way to wind down after a fun round of golf. No love for the greens? No problem! Those who don’t play will still find plenty to do in this centrally located holidaymaker’s paradise.

Things to do

-Local attractions: The High Street in Auchterarder is the longest in Scotland at about 1.5 miles, and gives the town its nickname of "The Lang Toun" or Long Town. It is host to copious amounts of shops, with the area being best known for antiques, fashion and woollen items. The merchants in this former trading town are well acquainted with hospitality, so personal service is high on the agenda. Some Auchterarder holiday homes are located within a few minutes’ walk from here.

-Golf: The golf in Auchterarder is unparalleled, which is saying a lot for a town in the birthplace of the sport! The Auchterarder Golf Club welcomes visitors year-round with over 5,700 yards of an easy walking course and innovative activities like night golf and games nights, which are inviting to a broader golf audience. The nearby legendary Gleneagles Hotel boasts three courses, 5 stars and will host the 2014 Ryder cup. Some HomeAway holiday apartments in Auchterarder overlook this attraction, providing easy access.

-Historical attractions: The Auchterarder Heritage Centre and Tourist Office has all the information visitors need for more on the history of the town and its people. There are also many exhibits which include maps, old town photographs and historic clothing. After soaking that in, visitors can get the latest news on events and attractions before heading out to enjoy them.

-Outdoor pursuits The stunning Scottish landscape is ideal for enjoying outdoor activities other than the excellent golf, and many visitors choose holiday apartments in Auchterarder precisely for the range of sports available. Favourites include walking, fishing, horseback riding and even less usual activities such as parachuting and falconry.

-Cultural attractions: A tour of the Tullibardine Distillery is a unique experience. Located just five miles away (and accessible by public transit) this historic institution produces Highland single malt whisky. Although open daily, booking for tours is advised because they fill up quickly. Tour options are available: a classic tour, specialised tour or even a whisky and chocolate tasting tour which includes four Tullibardine Whiskies paired with four handmade gourmet chocolates.

Excellent property - save yourself a lot of surfing and just book it!

5 of 5
We have just returned from a weeks stay and have say that the photos and description on the listing simply do not do the house and gardens justice. We travelled as two families with 4 adults and 5 children aged from 3-12 and the house was so spacious we were constantly looking for one other. The house was very well fitted out with a number of comfortable seating areas which included large plasma screens, all with Sky TV, as well as an entertainment room with full bar facilities incl. fridge, ice machine & dart board. The spacious kitchen included a large fridge freezer with water and ice dispenser, double ovens and gas hobs, 2 sinks and a dishwasher as well as all the usual accoutrements. Gardens were very well maintained and provided the perfect backdrop for our Easter egg hunt. The paths through the mature trees and shrubs were lined with spring flowers and other new plants. The location, just outside Dollar, provided an excellent base for travelling to Stirling, Perth and Edinburgh as well as the Safari Park. In summary it is a great house we would thoroughly recommend you spend some time in and will definitely not regret booking...
