Perfect cottage in a perfect location

5 of 5
Margaret Cottage is perfectly located on the main street running the length of the quay in Appledore. It has a dedicated parking space (very rare) and a small front garden. Entry to the cottage is via the hallway into the kitchen, which is fully equipped and leads to the dining room (complete with wood burner) and then through to the large sitting room. There is also a wet-room/toilet downstairs. The three bedrooms upstairs are beautifully dressed and well furnished and there is an en-suite shower room to the amethyst bedroom at the back of the house. The other two bedrooms overlook the front to the estuary with its ever changing scenery and views to die for. I stayed with my family over Christmas and the cottage was decorated with a tree and other decorations and looked invitingly festive. There was a bottle of Prosecco chilling in the fridge which, along with other extra touches, made for a very pleasing welcome. The cottage allows dogs and provides plenty of space for them to wander and snooze downstairs. They are not allowed upstairs but this is easy to ensure as the stairs are securely hidden behind doors leading from the dining room. Dog beds and bowls also help to welcome your four-legged friends. The small town has plenty to offer in the way of food: small supermarket, large deli, cafes and restaurants to offer sustenance whether you want to cook or eat out. We were made to feel very welcome by the locals and had a thoroughly good time. Santa managed to visit and we even managed a walk on Christmas Day between downpours. Carrie, the owner, and Nickie, the manager, were both wonderfully helpful and I can't praise their thoughtfulness and attention to detail enough. Margaret Cottage is a delight and well worth a visit.

A cosy Christmas

5 of 5
Lovely, spacious cottage, clean and well supplied with everything we needed for a family get together over Christmas - located near the sea with secure parking and beautifully quiet. We really enjoyed staying here and would like to return sometime.
