Aberdaron is an isolated and stunningly beautiful area at the very tip of the Lleyn peninsula. The local church of St Hywyn with its extensive graveyard sits overlooking the sheltered bay. There has been a church on the site since the 5th century, but the current building dates back to the 12th century. It is best known for its outspoken vicar, the famous Welsh poet R.S.Thomas, who served the parish from 1967 to 1978.

Bardsey Island

This well-known land feature is about 4 miles from your Aberdaron holiday rental. The island has always been an important religious site and the first monastery was built by St Cadfan in 516. The monastery was destroyed by Henry VIII in 1537 but the island continues to be a place of pilgrimage, undisturbed wildlife and rugged natural scenery. The square-sided lighthouse stands on the southerly tip.
