Make a holiday home in Torba your home away from home

The port city of Bodrum in the province of Mulga along Turkey’s Aegean Sea coastline has been a tourist magnet for the past few years. It may have started off as a humble fishing village but the natural beauty and rich culture have drawn intellectuals, artists and musicians here over time. Many among them have chosen to make Bodrum their home or second home, so enchanted have they become by its windswept beaches sense of history. Those who don’t envision more than a few weeks in this resort town can put up in luxurious holiday homes in Torba. This village is a tranquil, leafy space where holidaymakers can really unwind. The holiday villas and apartments in Torba offered by HomeAway are bound to captivate with their nice gardens and views of the Aegean.

Things to do

-Historical sites: One of Bodrum’s key attractions is what is left of the ancient city of Halikarnassus. This is where the mausoleum that held the remains of King Mausolos is found. It is a combination of a monument and tomb built under the auspices of Mausolos’ sister who also happened to be his widow. Built in 355BC, this testament to the ingenuity of man has been classified as one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.

-Bodrum Castle: After the mausoleum was destroyed in an earthquake, the materials salvaged were used in the construction of the Bodrum castle, also known as the Castle of St. Peter. This magnificent structure that features sturdy walls and a slim, cylindrical tower was built by the Knights of St. John in 1402. The castle houses a museum (Museum of Underwater Archaeology) and for just 20 lira visitors can spend hours perusing exhibits from underwater excavations.

-Beaches: One of the ways visitors staying in Torba holiday homes can seek relief from the summer heat is by taking a dip in the waters of the Bardakci Cove. All they need is to get to the Bodrum harbour and hire a taxi boat to get a chance to swim in these clear waters. When they want to dry off in the sun they can hire loungers and parasols at amazingly friendly rates and bask as long as they like.

-Food and drink: With all the great eateries available in Bodrum, those staying in holiday rentals in Torba may find it unnecessary to cook. At places like Restaurant La Pasion, they can have breakfast, lunch and dinner. Meals served here include sumptuous Spanish tapas and sizeable tortillas. For a taste of France in Turkey visitors can reserve a table at Evimiz. They can expect French delicacies prepared to perfection and given a Mediterranean twist as well as a fine wine selection.

-Hamam: Leaving Turkey without spending time in a traditional Turkish bath is almost criminal. Visitors should seize the opportunity to indulge in this unique aspect of the local culture with a detour to the nice hamam not far from the harbour. Thereafter visitors can spoil themselves further with a mud bath.

lovely Villa

5 of 5
we have just spent 5 days in this beautiful 4 bedroom villa. Perfect position for us and it was very quiet. The facilities are excellent and the owner was always available if I had any questions. although not a private pool we had it pretty much to ourselves. Some lovely restaurants within walking distance. if you do not have a car the bus stops by the back gate which is perfect. I am sure we will be back . many thanks to Vicki 😀😀

Stunning views and well appointed apartment in a modern resort!

5 of 5
Nestled near the top of this modern resort, you are rewarded with incredible views over the bay and across to Gulluk... With two small 'local' pools both nearby, you can almost pool jump as the sun moves throughout the day; our favourite was the "quiet pool", marked on a map you'll find in the apartment (thanks Nazia!) - go seek it out if you're able. On-site you will find the poolside lounge/bar/restaurant, which serves pretty much all day - along with a small shop, selling the essentials. Head to the Marina Restaurant for something a little more classy, but still totally affordable. Now, if you want to do a 'big shop', head over to Gulluk (complimentary boat service) and fill your boots and for those beach bums, you can ask Yakamos Restaurant to collect you from the resort and whisk you around to Jasmine Beach; just be sure to spend a little money with them when you're there. It's worth noting that there is a car service around the resort to - their crew will run you down (and back up) from the marina as needed. Lastly, for those who need to be connected, Wi-Fi is strongest near the main pool and you will need a voucher code from the main office. As a first-timer to Turkey - this has been an incredible week's holiday.
