The magnificent twin island republic of Trinidad and Tobago is a colourful, lively and exciting place to take a holiday property, and with the growing numbers of cheap flights to Trinidad and Tobago, holidays here can be taken regularly, and not only once in a lifetime. Whether you are looking to rent self catering accommodation in Trinidad and Tobago for a sensational beach holiday or a peaceful holiday in lush tropical surroundings, there is a holiday here for everyone.

Things to do on holiday in Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean

There is so much to do from a Trinidad and Tobago property that you would need many months to sample a bit of everything that there is to offer. However, on of the most notable events is the Trinidad and Tobago Carnival, which is often claimed in tourism circles to be the greatest cultural show on earth, and a delightful time to take self catering accommodation in Trinidad and Tobago as the islands come alive with the dance, music, art and the smell of mouth-watering food. However, all year round, there is always plenty of singing and dancing to see (and do), and a huge number of shops and restaurants in Trinidad and Tobago where you can get a taste for the authentic lifestyle of this beautiful country.

Of course, a huge amount of your holiday in a Trinidad and Tobago apartment will be spent on the beaches. The glorious white or pale pink sands which surround the island are simply ideal to relax on, soaking up the sun and the atmosphere, or to use as a base for swimming, sailing, surfing, snorkelling and learning the steel-pan drum! There are some challenging breaks for surfers staying in Trinidad and Tobago accommodation, and plenty to keep fishermen excited!

Nature lovers will love renting property in Trinidad and Tobago too. From the Leatherback Turtles nesting on the East Coast of Tobago to the barracudas, whale sharks, manta rays and dolphins which thrive in the caves, canyons and corals which make up the country’s shoreline. Inland, tropical forests and unspoilt swampland are the perfect locations for bird watching too.

Places to holiday in Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean

Trinidad is the larger and noisier of the two islands. It is both the industrial and commercial centre of the Republic, with the Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago’s capital, leading the way.

However, it is the smaller of the town islands, Tobago, which is the largest draw for tourism. Tobago is the tranquil heart of Trinidad and Tobago, with blissfully quiet, pale pink beaches surround by the azure waters of the Caribbean. Tobago is a beautiful place to stay for nature lovers too, offering not only exceptional coral reefs, but the oldest piece of protected rainforest in the Western Hemisphere.

For sailors, Trinidad & Tobago are in easy reach of Venezuela, Grenada, Barbados, St. Lucia, St. Vincent & Grenadines, Martinique and Dominica and other islands.

Weather in Trinidad and Tobago, Caribbean

Average temperatures in Trinidad and Tobago are between 24°C and 26°C at any time of year. The dry season lasts from January until May, and the constant trade winds mean that windsurfers and sailors are happy all year round staying in Trinidad and Tobago apartments at any time of year.

Spectacular Villa in Tobago

5 of 5
The villa was outstanding, much larger than expected. We were more than pleased with the surroundings waking up to perfect view. It had a fully functioning kitchen with all the utilities of a high standard. We had an added bonus of our private jacuzzi and access to a large swimming pool. The overall experience was outstanding my only fault was we should have stayed longer. The hosts, venue manager, housekeeper and grounds manager were always on hand to answer queries and all offered an excellent service. Truly worth visiting and I plan to do several more visits there.

Great location, stunning views & wildlife

5 of 5
Like a lot of other folk, we arrived after dark, having been picked up at the airport by Taylors, who also stopped for us at the shops on the way. This is wise as there aren't too many bigger shops around (although Castara supermarket isn't bad). We just got the basics for that evening and breakfast, but with a bit of planning probably should have got more of the basics. Jeep was already at the property, and you do need it, as the track up is fairly steep and uneven in places. Woken early by the birds, which for us was part of the reason to be there. My first hummingbird was in the kitchen whilst preparing breakfast! The place itself is amazing, with excellent facilities, especially in the outdoor decking and pool area, and the view is exceptional - we'll really miss hanging out there watching the many species of bird and butterfly, most of which are exotic to us, and cooling off in the pool. Trevor is very amenable, and gives you as much or as little time and advice as you need, and his groundsman Ranger is also very helpful, but again unintrusive (he gave us various fruits from around the grounds, and showed us a few other plants). At night it is very peaceful, and with the windows open giving a nice breeze, we didn't need to use the fans. All in all, if you are into nature and being away from it all, but still want access to nice beaches and occasional nightlife, this is paradise. Choices of beach include Englishman's Bay (our fav), Castara, Parlatuvier and Bloody Bay, and the 'nightlife' I refer to is Castara, the nearest main place for eateries and other entertainment (20min drive). And make sure you get out into the forest, at least with a guide to start with - we went with a certified guide called Fitzroy who was brilliant, and took us on a 4 hour walk. Speyside is still nearly an hour's drive, but a must for Little Tobago, and the accessible reef there. This part of the island is fabulous for the more rustic and nature-loving types, as it's greener and hillier than the south west - if you want partying probably best to stay nearer Crown Point. All the people we met were just lovely and so friendly, and despite what some night have read, we felt safe and secure even on the secluded beaches like Englishman's Bay. And coming back to this property always felt like a real privilege, with the resident nightjars and bats. Thanks very much Trevor, love what you've created there!
