Southern Thailand is one of the world’s most beautiful beach destinations where white sand meets turquoise blue waters, and beaches are set against a lush green mountain backdrop. Beautiful temples and quaint fishing towns line the coasts and provide visitors with a taste of Thailand’s culture without having to stray too far from a Southern Thailand holiday home. Situated in South East Asia, Southern Thailand is on the long peninsula which juts out from the rest of Thailand, down towards Malaysia, and benefits from two coastlines – on the east is the Gulf of Thailand, whilst on the west is the Andaman Sea.
With the most beautiful beaches, warm waters and tropical climate, relaxing on the beach is the number one priority for many visitors to villas and apartments in Southern Thailand, and when there are plenty of beachside apartments to choose from who would blame you?! Southern Thailand includes many offshore islands as well as the main peninsula of land, adding to the huge coastline here. Some of the most famous and busier islands are Phuket, Ko Samui and Ko Phi Phi, yet there are many more which haven’t yet been discovered by the hordes and offer a quieter Southern Thailand holiday! Holidaymakers looking for parties will certainly find plenty in this region too though.
When not enjoying your Southern Thailand villa pool, or relaxing on the beach, you’ll find there’s plenty more to do here too. Numerous top class golf courses are springing up in Southern Thailand, and other sporting activities include diving and snorkelling. Just minutes away from many Southern Thailand holiday rentals you also have areas of jungles and rainforests where you can trek and admire the scenery and wildlife.
On days you prefer to get back to civilisation Southern Thailand has a number of larger towns and cities you can visit. Many are full of temples (wats) each more beautiful than the last, plus history and lots of culture. A couple of hours to the north is the vast and busy capital of Thailand, Bangkok. Although famously overcrowded, Bangkok is a city that should be visited at least once in a lifetime, so taking a day away from your beachside Southern Thailand holiday home may be a good opportunity!
Staying in a Southern Thailand beachside villa or apartment you will be able to enjoy a tropical climate with hot and humid weather throughout the whole year. The most popular time to visit is between November and May as this is the drier and hotter time of the year, though in fact between May and October the temperatures are very pleasant. Monsoon showers occur in the summer.
There are numerous airports in this region, so how you choose to get here will really depend on the exact location of your Southern Thailand holiday rental. Some airlines fly to Southern Thailand directly, though you may find it better to fly to Bangkok and then catch an internal flight to the south.
